Hi Matthew, many thanks for this video. What I am thoroughly confused about is what on earth Lenovo are doing about their Legion 9i. This is reportedly their top of the range laptop, despite being released in December 2023. I was assuming they would be updating it with a 5090 (and preferably an AMD CPU), but they have been utterly silent. Do you have any idea whether it is worth me waiting for an updated 9i to be released later this year, or whether I should give up and look at other manufacturers? Many thanks for any advice you can offer.

@@MatthewMoniz i hope it can be specd with 64gb of ram and has the same 1000 nit brightness as last years model. Agreed. I've bought Legions nearly each year the past 7 years and now I'm looking at HP, Alienware, and MSI. The new Pro 7i just looks cheap and too gamery; before it was professional but with lots of optional RGB, which was perfect. Now? Even if you turn off the RGB it looks like an old, cheap gamer laptop.

@@yohankumar2441I bought the 2024 g16 with 4090, the GPU temps stay at 70-75degree in turbo, I have modded its V bios to the strix scar so that the gpu can run 150 watts and it does that fairly well at slightly higher temps, so this chassis can run higher wattages and razer might be ever so slightly thicker and might have a better cooling system, besides they will be using a far more efficient amd chip so I think it should be possible to get 155 watts, either way I am returning the g16, the intel chip gives me very very poor battery life and asus has a lot of quality control issues

Personally, with my blade laptop, I’ve had to replace the charger and the battery which is reasonable after five years. Some people have had more issues you should expect having to send it in for repairs of manufacturing defects, like a whole bunch of times to start with, but once you get over that in the beginning, it’s quite nice. For me anyway. It was annoying the first few months though.

I am not sure how I feel about them clearly reusing Scar 16 internals on the 18 inch version. You can physically see how the board and all components are shifted to one side, won't that create a weight imbalance? What about the extra space, is it just completely empty? Was it really that hard and expensive to give the 18 inch model a larger battery, better speakers, or better thermals/power delivery? It DOES have more space, so why not use it? :/

Does the chin on the Blade 16 look as big in person as it does on video? I'm looking at getting either that or the G16 and I was pretty excited when I heard they were slimming the blade down, but those bezels look absolutely massive, not to mention them being plastic as well. They take away so much from the premium look compared to the Zephyrus G16, but I may need to see it in person. If they are as big as they look though, that's a shame since it seems like the perfect premium 16 inch otherwise, aside from the lack of a haptic touchpad (but nothing else really has that either).

I was disappointed this year, was really looking forward to thunderbolt 5 in the tuf, nitro models. This marketing is killing the desire to buy a laptop from these brands. Hope hp upgrade omen transcend 14 with tb5

Do you know if there are any other laptops with AMD's integrated gpu? I'd like to see a video dedicated to that. I watched Linus' video about the Asus tablet with it that you mentioned, and he was getting 60-70 fps on Wukong with max settings, I believe. So it sounds like it is on par with a 5070 laptop. This could be a great option, likely cheaper than a 5070 laptop and more energy efficient. I'm surprised that it seems like only that product implemented it.

Zenbook A14 is the one to keep eye on for the most people. Finally MacBook Air have some competition, so apple can't get away with exorbitant price for ram and stoarge.

I was looking if there's going to be any new alternative to the S16 with the ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and 32gb ram. Looking for sth for photo editing and lighter video editing on the go. And from what I see, there's nothing new that would be a better alternative. The A14 will weigh 0.9kg for a 14" and lower specs and the S16 weighs 1.28 kg so still super light, especially for a 16".

It is a much weaker chip than the M3 in the MB Air as it has the Snapdragon X-Plus. With the M4 coming in a few weeks, it will be completely outclassed, and no way someone buying for 5-6 years should choose the A14 over the M4 MB Air unless they have to suffer Windows. N.B. It is also currently priced the same as the MB Air M3.

Guys, I'm in circle over which laptop to go for, on one side there is macbook but choosing it means I would have to change my phone to iphone too. I know its not necessary but apple ecosystem if you have all then only its pays off. On other side there is windows but windows 11 just sucks as of now but with that it also give me flexibility along with my galaxy phone. And my peer pressure to go apple😂, its really creeping under my skin now as windows side laptop are still weak. My usage is general browsing, youtube metflix songs etc

If you're just using the laptop for browsing and KZbin you don't need anything fancy, and if you got a m3 macbook air second hand you can keep your android phone and have an easy life. I've found the new snapdragon pc laptops to be great for what you need

I was looking at the Zephyrus G16 before, but I went into the store and I find the keys way too straight and sharp, and I can’t type accurately and I’m used to the blade keyboard so now that they have the way down to almost as late as my blade 15 2019 It looks like it could be almost perfect with the new OLED hope for better speakers…. Gosh, the price though probably gonna be crazy. Don’t need something new yet but looks soooo promising and I’m drooling over that OLED

My current laptop got issues with the battery and charging chip because I opened it to clean the fans and upon putting it all back the system doesnt recognize the battery. I cleaned many times before but this time I was unlucky, the Omen kinda answer my call by having its self cleaning system, Im waiting to see more new laptops but so far the Omen is 90% future laptop, my current is going into 6 years already and signs are showing especially with gpu problems.

It is a niche product that will sell to. a few hundred people, so it is pretty irrelevant as a choice after you factor in the cost and risk regarding reliability.
