The 12 to 35 and 35 to 100 are two excellent lenses to fill most needs and the internal focus on the bigger one is very sweet. Can usually score both in good used condition for about a g and sell the kit lenses

Hi Ben, following one of your videos advices, I bought the 14mm f2.5 for my G9, and then I found the wide conversion lens on Ebay to make it wider, so I bought it. The problem is that the conversion lens uses an adaptor ring to being able to attach to the 14mm. Mine came without the ring so I cannot use it. Called B&H, called Adorama and even Panasonic, looked for the adaptor on Ebay, and nothing, nobody can tell me what adaptor ring it is. Since I'm sure you have it, could you tell me please so at least I know what I'm searching for, thanks

I considered the Oly 12-40mm when I was deciding on my main lens, putting it up against the PanaLeica 12-60mm and Lumix 12-35mm and decided against the Oly because I liked the colors from the Leica and the loss of Dual IS on the Oly. Also because I got the Leica for a crazy steal at about USD500 ish. =D

Michael. I've been considering that andmay rent an Oly Pro lens to check it out. Do you think the Oly Pro lenses perform at the same level of sharpness/quality as Leica lenses specifically made for the Panasonic bodies, like the G9 and GH5? Thanks!

If I could use only one lens, it would be the PanaLeica 12-60mm f2.8-4.0 rather than the less versatile 12-35. The PL12-60 bunded with the G9 is the world's greatest kit lens, and I got a $500 break on the price last Xmas. Everyone who uses the PanaLeica 15mm f1.7 falls in love with it. I like to put it on the GX9 and carry along the 42.5mm f1.7. I got a great used deal on a TAMRON 14-150mm tiny sharp cheap (what M43 is all about) for a bit more than $250. It's Tamron's only M43 lens. I'm a bird, bug, and bloom freak, so I can't live without the PanaLeica big gun zooms, the 50-200 f2.8-4 and the 100-400 f4-6.3, along with the first ever M43 PanaLeica, the 45mm f2.8 macro for $450. I agree on the 7-14mm f4 because I never use filters anyway, and I got a deal on it used as well. A lot of the Panny lenses focus closer than the Oly competition, and have a greater zoom range. I miss the 45-175 that I sold, because it is so much smaller than the 50-200, which I do love - I wish I had both. The POIS in the lenses integrates beautifully with the G9 and GX9's 5-axis IBIS and frees me from the unwieldy shot-killing tripod, but you do need to turn off POIS when a tripod makes sense. I use my old Nikon 85mm f1.8 on a dumb (no glass) M43 adapter, It's great for getting head shots from halfway across a dimly lit room at family functions. At some point I might replace it with the Oly 75mm f1.8 to get autofocus.
@forascu4 жыл бұрын
Or you could replace the Nikon 85mm 1.8 with the native Sigma 56mm 1.4 instead of the Oly 75mm 1.8... you get almost the same background blur, closer working distance and 1.4 instead of 1.8 so better in low light as well
