Nice work. 2 easy little mods I did to the roof top tent was put a small grommet in the base up near the head of th bedto run power into th tent. I ran the same led lighting as what's in th trailer. Also had a usb charger for my phone. Mounted lights along th center bar of th rooftop. Also tie a 1ft length of paracord to the zip for th cover. Hellps u pull th zip on a better angle and makes setup and pack way easier also makes zip last longer. Zips r a fail point on the cover. I travelled Australia and lived in th kings rooftop for 4 months and the cover was the only issue I had. The paracord made a big difference

Congrats!!! "Dad".... Hey, you may want to run an earth strap between the lid, rtt frame and the body. What a brilliant job btw. You may want some lighting under the trailer. Make sure you let the son know you built the trailer when he is old enough to get it.

Loving the build mate trailer is look amazing and congrats on having a baby boy, me and my partner now have two covid baby’s Side note maybe look at changing how the tent is mounted to the trailer 4 bolts to hold it down might not be enough maybe look at going to 8 bolts better to over build on things like that. 👌🏼🇦🇺

Looking awesome mate one thing I would add which I have done for my rooftop tent is put lights and chargers in there for phones and what not makes a massive difference being able to have lights in there
@mous32032 жыл бұрын
Lights are looking good man!! Only thing I would change would be replace those 2 rear facing lights with a slimline lightbar. Heaps more light and a similar profile to not get in the way.
@Sethjxl2 жыл бұрын
Yes for off-road at night, but no for camping (unless they are on a dimmer). Massive light bars at camp are a real pain, they make everything else too hard to see.
@mous32032 жыл бұрын
@Sethjxl you can buy low output light bars. I have one in my garage. Rubbish for offroading, but perfect for the campsite.

You might be able to find those thin light bars on the rear just in a flood pattern? Maybe those were spots and that's why they're shining in a focused circle!

You should put some velcro on the back of the remote for the LEDs so that you can stick it to the marine carpet on your drawer or where ever.

You've done a great job on this mate, something to be proud of. Can I suggest that you run a short earth between the main body and the lid. Those hinges are a moving part, and they are the only significant electrical contact between the lid and the body for the ground. This will cause corrosion in the dissimilar (Steel, S-Steel, Ally) metals via electrolysis. Ground strap between them is an easy fix. Cheers.
@josephreid70122 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Or for best practice, a negative from your common earth pin that you loop between all lights because voltage drop is a real thing.

Appreciate the content and congrats on becoming a dad! Although I don't need new suspension I did have a look at the offerings from Fulcrum and I'm sorry to say that based on their product description there's no chance I'll be buying their products in the future unless they change their methods. e.g. Bilstein package for LC76 does not mention the Bilstein shock model No. That's like Toyota advertising a vehicle as "Toyota 4x4" . Obviously Fulcrum are including the base model Billy shocks in that package. Hey, I realise it's not your fault and I'm glad that you;re receiving sponsorship - my remarks are aimed at Fulcrum. Cheers

Congratulations on little Wolf! Hope yourself, Mum and bub are doing well. I am feeling the inspiration to get out into the shed and build something. Those rear lights could be moved to the angled supports for the rack to allow for more storage room and that would also give you the option to angle the lights out to get more spread. My 2c.

I reckon putting that waterproof gland Upside down, making the long bit point into the tub, less chance of knocking it off if you’re sliding surf boards under the tent
@madvids1002 жыл бұрын
Highly recommend an easily accessible mains battery isolator. Cool ideas would be lights in the drawer, a travel buddy and more rgb in kitchen area and under the rtt. Thanks for the inspiration, the execution won’t be the same but my little dodgy trailer should go alright with some love

1st of all congratulations. As a father,.myselg, my 1st bit of advice is to cherish every moment. & don't worry if the videos become less frequent. As for touring car, knowing your preference for Datsuns, l would suggest a 4.2 GU Patrol wagon.

How about a solar panel on slide attached to the underside of the rooftop tent, pull it out towards the tow bar and slapping that to the battery if you want to make the trailer a home base and leave it behind while going out for a drive

Chuck a big 40 amp fuse or similar in where ur feed for ur fuse block terminates to ur battery to protect that cable
@deanrobinson21492 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Congrats on the little boy, ive got a little girl so we can both rep them dad bods 🤟🏼 I noticed there wasnt a fuse from the battery to the fuse block, if the cable was to rub through thered be nothing stopping it from melting and catching fire. And i seen that the lights work now but i think the earthing will become an issue when its been in the weather for a while, might be worth running an earth strap to bolt to the tent frame if you didnt want to run a cable from each light Loving the videos, keep up the awesome work (if you know where i can get one of those trailers plz let me know 😂)

Great content as usual. Do you have any concerns about that heat vent allowing that fine dust in ? As being towed on dirt will surely coat everything inside - that crap gets in everywhere !!!
