My fav YT plastic surgeon! Watched all your vids before getting my lip lift 4 months ago. I had 7 mm removed from 20 mm so major/30% reduction of my upper lip real estate. Super happy with results but not without complications. A stitch popped out early & i had two bumps appear on either side of my nostrils a week after procedure where scar tissue formed under the skin around dissolvable stitches. Things are mostly smoothed out now thanks to one round of steroid injections (ouch!) and TRL/laser treatment. One thing i wasn't made aware of was numbness/severed nerves which probably takes a full year to heal. Thanks so much for all your info! ❤🙏

Thank you Dr for this informative video! I am 38 and considering lip lift when I am 10+ years older if my lip drops at all. I do get hypertrophic scarring and have remedied my tummy tuck and breast lift scars with kenalog which worked quite well. I appreciate your educated angle of understanding this type of scarring. It is my understanding that certain skin types and ethnicities are more prone to this type of scarring. The funny thing is I have no stretch marks and have had 4 pregnancies. I noticed hypertrophic scarring with all 4 c sections and knew to expect it with my plastic surgeries bc of that. I understand this type of scarring is a result of or at least related to elevated histamine responses in the skin which I have personally been affected by my whole life and have dealt with in other areas besides the skin (as in, my whole body system). I get histamine response from certain foods, topicals, scarring, I have dermatographica, sometimes have experienced chronic hives, eczema. I wish I had answers as to why and I sometimes become frustrated when doctors in the past view the body as separated systems and can't understand that I'm dealing with this throughout my whole body system as a WHOLE. More research on this phenomenon is definitely needed imo. It affects everyone from my respiratory system to my digestive system. I've cut out dairy completely and that has cleared my eczema :) anyway now I've gone off on a tangent I'm sorry. Thanks for listening and thanks for the videos!

It's so wonderful when a surgeon specialises in some particular surgery and then you know you are in great hands. Unfortunately, in such a small country as Australia, we don't have that luxury. I really think I would benefit from a lip lift surgery but Australian surgeons each perform all kinds of surgeries, body and face and everywhere, and then it's so scary as it really is the centre of my face.

Do you guys not take skin from under the lip? I notice with most lip lifts the inner lip Starts to fold out which is more noticeable when they talk. Maybe this is intended but it’s just too noticeable like a water line. Is it possible to remove a small graft from the inside to make it look more natural? Hi Dr Gary, love your videos. I have a question based on ignorance/curiosity - why could it not be done with the same amount of skin being removed directly above the lip rather than below the nose? A lot of gals over-line their lips with makeup or add a thin line of highlighter directly above anyway, so if there was a small scar there (and it was done very neatly) wouldn't it just create this effect naturally, or at least be very easy to camouflage? Is it not done because it's more likely to distort the shape of the top lip?

there's Kesselring surgery that basically does that. However from what I've seen, the lip contour becomes unnaturally saturated and straight (sort of like with lip tattooing), and if you're not wearing heavy makeup every day it could become an esthetic issue

Hi Dr Gary, Is it possible to get a Cupid Bow put into a top lip. I have an obvious deviated septum that is now blocking both airway due to the nose having a curved tip going from left towards the right side of my nose, which has been making a crease line on the right from the deviation. My nostrils are not wide, they are shaped more like a shark (my Private joke) and my nose is not petite. If I were to have surgery done to correct the blockage and straighten the nose so I can breathe from the nostrils again, would this be a complex procedure?

I have to admit: Although the result might look good, people often seem to have a cold because of the scar below the nose. In many cases I was able to recognize the scar, even after years. That’s a pity because I like the idea of the lip lift.

What do you all think of lip tie removal as a first step. Theoretically if one has a frenum there connected into the upper lip wouldn't removing that tension allow for the inner portion of the lip to counterclockwise rotate and give that same fuller upper lip show.

There's a certain relaxation in the faces of the after pictures though. It's not a replacement with one to one outcomes that's for sure.

Hallo Dr Gary, are you doing the hairline lowering & forehead lifting procedure? Many women can do with hairline lowering post menopause, it does eat into you hairline. And I really dislike the Botox look, having studied the faces of friends and celebrities having used this easier route. That triangle between the eyes is more off-putting than a frown, and the forehead getting more pronounced (on top of a receding hairline) is not attractive at all.
