I found good luck with the .308 AR and the .45 air rifle (both paid DLC weapons). I don't care much for fowl hunting so I never carried a shotgun. I was unfortunately very let down by Mississippi Acres. The single mission story line is short and the terrain and animals both are frustrating. I looked forward to getting it since I love air gun hunting and I was especially excited about racoon hunting. Most species in this map are short and hard to see over the tall vegetation that covers the map and everywhere you walk is loud!

I’m doing a little challenge for myself where I try to get 1 diamond of every animal in single player. I got to Mississippi yesterday and it’s very frustrating. I’m mostly just wandering around hoping to spook a small animal into showing itself

Try Grelck Drilling Rifle, the power is 5-9 and I think is the most powerful you can use on alligators

My load out is: .303 .223 .22H And the 12 gauge. I was shocked that the .22H was so expensive. It costs as much as the .300 ($75,000) and the ammo is even more expensive than .300 ammo. Kinda put me off but I’m at the point where money isn’t really a problem. Maybe they’ll fix the prices in a patch in a month or so.

@@jakov1353 I wouldn’t say “very soon” money isn’t a problem. It’s called “grinding” for a reason after all. It gets somewhat easier after buying the 7mm but $75,000 for a .22 is absurd. Hell, I can buy the earlier version .22 *AND* the .223 for less than the new .22H.

@@dontparticipate240 Oh the fact that it isn't realistic is absolutely correct, but in no universe is 75k a lot because you get around a thousand money per kill and can easily go into a random multiplayer lobby without having to think about deleting zones and murder more than 50 animals of some species with high and easily accessible populations like gemsbok, ibex, wildebeest, pronghorn etc.

@@jakov1353 But only if you have the hardware to take those bigger animals. Like I said before, once you get the 7mm it gets easier but don’t go saying $75,000 *FOR A .22* is reasonable. I’m thinking about this for a beginner not someone who’s been doing this for a while like us. With weapon pack 1 you can get the .22LR for free while the .223 is only $6000. Even with a ton of .22LR ammo you still come in over *12 TIMES CHEAPER* with the ability to take a bigger range of game with those two guns then you do with this new one. Sorry dude but you’re not gonna convince me $75,000 (and over $1000 per 10 rounds) is in anyway a reasonable price for this new weapon and its ammo. It’s more of a prestige gun than anything specifically because of the outrageous price and lackluster range of animals that can be taken with it.

From my experience, going for brainshots on the swimming gators is easiest if they’re facing towards you. Just aim between the eyes

6.5, 22H, and 20 gauge is my loadout, have found the 6.5 to be good on gators, and I don't mind the track for the black bears, hardly see em when I'm hunting anyway.

The 30 - 06 drops every thing it touches . Bear, gators, pigs. The grellick drilling gun with bird shot is also good the the rifle rounds is also good but im find you really have to make the shot count. If you miss reloading is painful .. I got the compound bow as well but haven't hit anything with it yet... But yeah if you wanna take stuff down without tracking for too long they are good and you will find stuff very quickly

I really think they need to buff the .22H, it really doesn’t make the cut for class 2 animals or the raccoons. They run way too far and it definitely needs more penetration

Do you have any tips for finding alligators out of the water? I can never find them in rest zones or around rest zones on land, I can only seem to find them in deep water that they sink in when shot on Series X.

@marshoutdoors08 they are not quite the same. Night vis shoots an invisible light out that the optic picks up, hence the green glow and why it's miserable when looking when it's sunny out. Thermal imaging picks up the heat from animals and such, would allow it to be used in daylight, low vis situations. Doubt it'll ever happen, but they make thermal scopes irl for coyote hunting and such, so I don't think it would be a problem

The game is missing a lot of things we have in real life. I guess they're saving such for future content. If they drop everything at once then they can't make long term money as easily. The same thing for the gun progression in the game. Completely unrealistic. I've dropped deer in their tracks with a .243 but on here a well placed shot still required a 400 yard track to find them. I've dropped deer with a .22 when I was a kid. My dad trained me to aim for the head with a .22 bc he wanted me hunting at an early age and I was too small for larger caliber guns. I shot at 3 deer and dropped all 3 with that .22. My favorite is a .308. Nice size round that drops them quick. The faster you kill them the better the meat will be. If they have time to panic then they'll dump adrenaline I to their bloodstream and that causes the meat to taste gamey and will require you to ice soak the meat so the blood will drain. This game really makes me want to get in the woods lol. I love that life.

ive had limited luck hunting the gators but i did notice that one i shot that had gotten away under water before it had died didnt resurface right away but after a decent amount of time hunting the same spot i shot another gator and dropped it immediately and by the time he floated back to me the first one i shot resurfaced and floated to me aswell, so it may just be a time variable when the gators submerge, but like i said ive had limited luck hunting them so i havent been able to duplicate the incident to test my thought.

Since both the alligators and raccoons have no trophy organ, why don’t you just go for headshots? Especially with the 22 Hornet. Ideally you should get the full score, since you’re not damaging the trophy organ.
