The directional audio bugs in this game really makes it harder. Especially for things like raccoons. Often the spatial audio is reversed and you have to intentionally go the other way to find them.

I think I've done all of those, except for the backpack. I've used bags, but always intentionally as the first thing I noticed what the increase in noise and spotting. But running? Hell yes! :D I'm not a patient man by any stretch of imagination, so I find myself using ATVs and running :D ATVs I mainly use for getting the cabins, etc., but I tend to run around like a jackrabbit :D

I watched one video of yours of the 10 tip guide and all i had to do was change ammo from SP to Polymer for .243 and .270 rounds. Ik youre not supposed to but i use the .270 on blacktail and whitetail and it drops them from well over 200 yards. I always place my tripods at 150m as that is the spook distance and I can then adjust or put it down while the animals are there. It also gives me spot-on zeroing and the ammo which is "good for 150m" will have 100% power at this range. (No drop-off yet. The drop-off can be brutal!) 150m does give me a slightly slower approach to the tripod from the last 25m to avoid spooking them though. You can crouch but should not crouch-run.

Does it effect zones if you leave tripods or tents? I get that it spooks them and to drop tents 250-300 and tripod 175 but really curios seeing maps with loads of tents. Only 2 months in on this game and trying to grind all zones before starting to seriously start hunting .?

@@OldDungeonMaster If you "spawn in" a tent (aka fast travel to or load into) then any wildlife that happens to wander past will be spooked. Any wildlife that is at their zone closer than 250-300m from tent will simply be invisible to you and they will not spook by you. If you fast travel to the tent and walk 300m away then sneak back you will see the animals are now there and can be shot. You can also test this by finding need zones that are somewhat close placing tents on both so that the tents are both 300m away from the other zone. You can jump between them and shoot the herd at the other tent. This works great across lakes. The latest adjustments seem to allow placing tripods 150m away from animals without them spooking but they may (based on their hearing) go alert. They do not appear to scare animals other than this, and do not seem to prevent animals from spawning or rendering in.

I wish placing tree stands wasn't so loud.. it almost makes them useless to use. I tried to crawl near a zone and set them up but it turns the noise meter full red and spooks everything. Not sure why it should do that when the game let's you fast travel tent to tent and climb free standing stands that let's you mow down anything in all directions.. its almost like the game wants you to do nothing but warp to drink zones to hunt.. I hate doing that.

For croc/predator hunting you should take a dog, the dogs start barking when a predator or aggressive animal is approaching or near, a crocodile was charging at me and my dog started barking, it saved me, also i was claiming a kangaroo and one squared up and my dog barked, i shot him in the lung so fast😂

I'm not sure. I'd have to test that. Animals won't see you sooner based on what inventory you're carrying. It will if you're wearing a backpack though!

First off let me say you put out great videos & I’m sure they help many others, especially ones new to the game. I do have to respectfully not agree with you telling people not to use backpacks. I have always used the largest , Explorer 6000 pack & never had issues with Diamonds coming into my tripod within 20-30 yds. As long I have a good wind. My personal hunting style is set up for an Ambusher rather than a stalker. So my personal preference is to carry all the weapons needed to take out a diamond that crosses my path of any animal type on the map, w/o having to go back to a tent/outpost to change weapons or resetting the time. The ability to carry 32 lbs/14.5 kg is a huge asset for me personally. The negative side is while traveling to a drinking zone, I have to stop running/walking about 20yds (I’ve never been able to narrow it down exactly) sooner than if I had no pack. So 20 or so yards is not much of a difference compared to being able to carry a full loadout IMHO. Anyway I hope you take this as it was meant, as a respectful difference of opinion based on my personal style & experience. Keep cranking out these awesome videos! Thanks

A trick i learned is. If you aproach a small clearing and got a good vantage point. Fire a warning shot it'll scare them out. Got me a nice Black bear and a turkey in one go doing that

For what it’s worth, I got a Diamond Whitetail the other day wearing the huge pack. I use it to go around setting up tents/tripods/decoys not even necessarily hunting. Heard the warning call, crouched & it was less than 200 yards. I’d theorize that the spook radius update may have helped with backpacks also...even so, still wouldn’t advocate for using packs to hunt.

I run around gathering need zones first. When I'm outside of 400m of a zone, I walk. When within 200m, I crouch. When within 100m, I crawl. I always have a backpack on, and I rarely spook game. Exceptions are when I'm collecting kills, and finding need zones. Most of the time I'm hunting Eastern Grey Kangaroo's, Feral Goats (for money), or Alligators.

I just started playing this game and I’ve been so dang frustrated with the mechanics. I’ve been making the mistake of following directions instead of taking my shot. I saw a nice big moose drinking but I was following the guy telling me he saw tracks so I tracked. I walked in a great big circle all the way back to the moose I saw when I initially got off of my quad. Well since I tracked the moose I was lead into some noisy brush which spooked a rabbit that lead to another animal running directly towards the moose that I had been tracking for the last hour. I finally got close enough I could see the moose in my scope so I just took the shot. Well Que an hour an a half of me chasing a slow bleeding moose and guess wear it went! Back to where the game starts. So now that I’m 4 hours into the game I’ve decided I’m going to discover all the lookout towers and poi’s on the map so that I have a base to return to and I’m going to go out and just kill anything that moves instead of being a responsible outdoorsman that actually tracks my injured animals if it doesn’t drop within view or a few minutes from my reach then I’m going to let it go and not waste my time. Thanks for the tips too because I’d probably still be tracking a wounded moose or breaking something if I didn’t look at KZbin videos

That has to do with patience. I'm really good at tracking my kills. If you feel like you've hit in a vital spot but it says no organ hit, that doesn't mean it didn't hit intestines or bone, which will show small blood spots but will be less than fatal for the animal but it will die. Like your situation I hit a moose and tracked it, almost giving up I left the last known tracks and blood splatter I saw, kept walking forward thinking nothing of it and 5 minutes give or take later, I saw more tracks and then miraculously more blood splatter and I counted maybe 4 splatters and several sets of tracks later and he was laying in some brush dead. I looked at the print and blood splatter stats the entire way there and it said no organs hit, yet looked at the stats of the kill itself and it said I hit flesh and intestines. When you hit animals out of your weapon tier or don't hit the right spots the points for that animal get reduced. Point is if you HAVE the attention span keep on them. Especially if you're a good shot and you know where to hit. Another tip, if the more open end of your wind dial is upwards as you're following an animal it will always run. Get around it's side or hunt another animal in the opposite direction. Last tip, if you can get close enough to an animal without spooking, use your binoculars to spot the animal and zoom all the way in. You'll see the organs and know where to hit. And use polymer rounds bc they'll spread on impact and you have more chances of hitting vital organs and downing it

weird,... i the new map i grind tigers have multiple daimonds already with a tent litterally standing next to the lake itself. i never had this happening. at least not with the tigers. they never got spooked by the tent either

Run around the map, slow down when you get to about 150 meters from the edge of the lake and start walking and spotting. Spot around the entire lake before shooting so you don't spook something great before you even see it.

I could've had a diamond mule deer a few days ago on silver ridge peak but like you said a mountain lion spooked him off Edit: how far apart do you have to be to not spook a deer across the lake after you already shoot one up close

Animals spook from one shot when they're closer than 200 meters. When you take more than one shot, they will spook at 200 meters or so. It varies

I keep having a problem with red deer I can't get near them or even see them before they feel they give a warning call from 200 meters away then flee immediately
