Love that drone footage! Damn that’s fast, can’t argue the Axis is one of the best commercial splitters on the market! Love splitting frozen wood. Stay safe and warm. Happy New years to you Allison, Kim and Lilly!👍TCT

Tony! It's only at 75% throttle. 100% is scary fast. I watched 765 Guys this morning. That little split fire vertical is the real deal too! Happy New Year buddy!

Old timer once told me burning wood makes you warm twice, once making it and once burning it. Making it with the saws and equipment we both have is almost cheating! Thanks Larry!

It's tacky, but it wears off pretty quickly. Nothing seems to stick very well to the powder coat. I've learned to feather the pedal to split the stubborn ones.

You keep selling wood at the rate you're going you're gonna be Mike Morgan with all kinds of toys before too long!
@clubdoraoutdoorsandfirewood29 күн бұрын
Mr. Mike. Your shoulders are still good. If I threw wood like your doing I would be a hurting wreck. I am glad for you that you can still do that. Your drone tootage was really neat. You have things setup as you noted . I might have to try some of the bed inner product. Some times especially with snow and low temps that platform by the splitter is very dangerous with kickback. The new axis is a very nice splitter. It’s to back they didn’t add just a little more lift to the log lift to push the big rounds closer to the wedge. Great video.
@KNLFirewood28 күн бұрын
Hey Al! The spray on liner doesn't last very long and helps marginally. I've found you can read the wood, or the crooked cut mostly, and the feather the pedal oh so gently and it "usually" doesn't kick it to the next county. Just a learning curve. The drone is fun to fly. I gotta remember to take it with me for tree job pick ups! Hope you and Chris have a great New Year! Hope to see you in April!

Wish i could make it, Mike. Between the office and my Mom and father in-laws, health, and even Bunyan, maybe a challenge this year.

Great video! I would like to try out an axis 2.0. Mine is one of the first ones. And it is my favourite splitter out of all my splitters. How are you liking that 24D. ?
@KNLFirewoodАй бұрын
Come to the HFH25. I'm sure there will be at least one there! Love the 24D. New Axis is just the shinny new toy. More 24D videos coming!

Nice drone footage Mike! You have came a long ways from my visit with you! Awesome job! How do you like the Axis 2.0 vs the 24D. I know they have there place.
@KNLFirewood24 күн бұрын
Hey Craig! Like anything else, baby steps. Thanks for your support! Axis vs 24D...hmm...good question. I don't run the 24D without the box wedge. And with the right wood, it's crazy fast. Downfall with any box wedge is the chaff. Even though I have the grizzly bars on the conveyor, a lot still gets into the finished product. So I split into the dump trailer then hand "stack" it from there. An extra step, but I believe it's worth it as I want my finished product to be as good as I can make it. Where as the axis just has the one knife, it makes lots less chaff and it never makes it to the finished product. The new axis is super fast as well. Approaching twice as fast as the OG. If you're gonna make bundle wood and you want it to stand out from your competition...split it on a vertical machine, barkless. Hands down best bundle wood machine. It's sooo precise. But if you're going for bulk wood, 24D and box wedge is hard to beat.

Do you change from hydraulic fluid to automatic transmission fluid for the winter? I'm trying to figure out what I need to change since I will be producing over the winter for the first time.
@KNLFirewoodАй бұрын
No changing of fluids. I split year round.
@AllenFamilyFirewoodАй бұрын
Same here we don’t change the fluid and ours trucks right along at the same speed .

what is the height of the axis,is the stroke 24"? thank you
@KNLFirewoodАй бұрын
Hi Bob! I just went out and measured because I wasn't 100% sure. Over all height from ground to top of cylinder is 100". From ground to top of table is 34". Stroke is completely adjustable 24" down to around 10" if you get the extended stop. The standard stop lets you adjust between 24" and 14" or so.

@@KNLFirewood thank you,i was on eastonmade site and couldn't figure that-great machine,34"deck is perfect-i have a boxstore splitter that has been upgraded to include a boom ...deck is now at 34" -it is always my one complaint on any horizontal splitter i have seen-beam is to low

Really is hard to beat an Axis as a do all commercial splitter. I pulled my conveyor off recently for a little more mobility around the yard. Not sure I would order the next Axis with one as it just a bit short to justify the cost.
@KNLFirewoodАй бұрын
Really is hard to beat. I didn't order this one because I have the STK24. Without the attached conveyor it's lots easier to move about and really not needed if you use IBCs. JMO

It looks like that axis is proving it’s worth. I bet if the US military ever contracted anyone to build woodsplitters Eastonmade would be their choice, since it’s built like a “tank”. I know your quite confidant running that machine but it seems to me your thumbs are a little too close to that wedge. I’m pretty sure they don’t grow back. Enjoy your videos Mike, you do a great job. Happy New Year to you and your family. 😅😅😅
