This used to be a meal I would stop for any time I was making the drive from Key Largo to Miami...Little Haiti. There was a little corner dive that had lines outside every day. They served theirs w a cole slaw that was made w Scottish Habanero...the combination of sweet,savory & heat...my mouth is watering

I haven’t tried this with a non-dairy milk, only regular milk, but try adding lemon juice or vinegar to whatever milk you use. Put 1 tbsp of the lemon juice or vinegar into a measuring cup, then fill it to the 1 cup mark with your milk. Let sit for a couple of minutes before using.
