The Yellow Sleeper head Goby and most other sand sifting gobies do (as you mentioned) tend to scoop up sand and swim up and dump. That said, the Diamond Watchman Goby generally sifts and eats on the bottom, thereby limiting the sand dumping where you don't want it. I have had a couple of Diamond Watchman Gobies and they have been pretty good about keeping the sand towards the bottom. They also have some funny personality quirks (ie picking up hermit crabs and moving them to a place that they feel is better for them).

My sand bed has not been touched for over two years, I've not noticed any problems with it, but I was thinking of introducing maybe a gobie and some nassarius snails to turn the sand over, do you think they will die if I do this?

If you get the sand sifting starfish, you'll want to be carful with them. They can become over a foot long. If they are crawling up to the surface as mentioned in this video, that could also indicate that they are starving and looking for more food. Unfortunately I'm afraid I'm going to have to look for a new home for mine soon for this exact reason.

I used nassarious snails for my nano 10 g but the I used a yellow sea cucumber for my 40 g and I prefer sea cucumbers but you have to be careful with care

I see my ceriths all the time. They spend more time on the rock and glass than the sand in my tank.

My aquarium has an SG of 1.030 would any of these be suitable?

That's too high lower it to 1.026

Agreed. 1.024-1.026 is considered the best range. I run 1.025 myself.

Way too high, lower is better than higher because it adds room for error and fish adjust better to swings of low salinity then high

A couple of nassarius snails and turbo snails or a few hermit crabs

Lol I’m super late but I would do 4 nassarius snails, 5 trochus snails, 5 astrea snails, 4 blue leg hermits and a scarlet hermit (the big red ones).
