You know that I am using it now because of you Mason. I am sure that they would have done it anyway because it seemed like this or Botox Injections is all that they can do about it now. My Bladder Spasms just kept getting worse and the Oxybutinin was not doing anything and the Spasms were even worse if I had a UTI. So at least for now this is working but I am at a high Dose so I do not think that they can increase it like they did with the Oxybutinin. But you are right about the Spasms and leaking and everything else Mason and I have it all. I hope that other people who are having problems like me try the Mybetrique now too because it must be a lot Stronger than Oxybutinin was.

Interesting! For my first twenty years as a quad, I wore an external catheter w a leg bag. I internally catheterized myself, in the morning and at bedtime. My urologist stated that I was to hope not to get more than three UTI's a year. I was told by my primary nurse in 1980-'81 to gently tap below my abdomen to cause my bladder to spas. This reduced the amount of urine to 250 cc that came out after catheterizing. Based on this I was told I had to catheterize myself every six hours; drinking one gallon of water, along w other beverages, allowed me to catheterize twice daily, and I never had more than two UTI's in a year. About twenty years into this injury, my leg was badly broken at a homegroup meeting for church. The doctor wouldn't insert a pin in my leg, concerned about infection due to circulation and I was given a bone stimulator. Meantime, I ordered a new sports wheelchair and tolerated a power wheelchair. About two months of healing passed and I headed out the backdoor onto our deck; the chair reacted to EMI frequencies (it does happen) and we landed hard on my right side. Things changed in that moment; less than one week later, a supra-pubic catheter was necessary due to a back injury causing further paralysis. Five years ago, while living in Arizona, my urologist suggest I try Methenamine. This is a one pill before bedtime med to be taken with one 1,000 mg vitamin C; this is a medication intended to maintain a healthy Ph balance in the body. I have had one mild infection that I was told I had after a urine sample was taken, since that time. I am going to read your article on livingablebodied.com, Mason - things have changed. Thank You!

My urologist prescribed me Methenamine, but I never took it. What are your experiences and thoughts on it? Thank you for watching and commenting!
@horsewnoname8726 ай бұрын
@@masonx54 Methenamine is a large and very bitter tasting pill to swallow, but you get used to it after two months. It has been a long time since symptoms of infection (cold chills/ low-grade fever) or a UTI has been detected. It is the best preventative med I've encountered.

I have Neurogenic Bladder and I do not have any control over my Bladder at all to make it work. But the Mybetrique really helped me because my Bladder Spasms were so bad that they could not get my Catheter in. I think that the Catheter hit something and it triggered my Body to Spasm. Sometimes they would wait for my Spasms to calm down and try again but it got to the point where it was not working anymore. I would try the Generic Mybetrique if it works as good as this but I just used what they Prescribed and I did not know about the generic until you let me know about it now Mason. The most important thing is that it works for me because I need to have a Catheter to do it for me and they were freaking out not being able to get it in and I was too because I was thinking that they need to get this Catheter in me somehow because if something else worked for me they would have tried it already with me.
@masonx547 ай бұрын
Yeah, there was not a generic version of Myrbetriq until April of this year. Mirabegron is the exact same as Myrbetriq but is much cheaper. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@pagzplay7 ай бұрын
@@masonx54 I kind of figured that out myself because if it was available for me back then they probably would have tried something else. It was either this or the Botox Injections and they wanted to try this first with me and I thought that maybe it would be better than getting Injections in my Bladder but if they need to do that later I will have to do it because I need something that works. It does not bother me at all when they are putting in my Catheter so I do not think that Botox Injections will be bad as long as it works for the Spasms so they can do it.

I had Botox injections in March for the first time and use with both Tolteradine and Mirabegron. Botox seems to help. I live in the UK so names of tablets might be different. I took Oxybutinin for over 10 years. It was banned for a while in the UK in liquid form. I found patches didn’t work.
@pagzplay7 ай бұрын
I took Oxybutinin for a long time too and they kept increasing it but then it stopped working for me at all because I think that I built up a tolerance to it. So now it is Mybetrique and Botox Injections until there is something better than that and it will work for me.

I am not sure if Patches would ever be powerful enough to work and only for a short time if they did work at first.

From what I gather, if one has a very spastic bladder and or the meds cause too many side affects, a good solution is a getting a suprapubic catheter implanted

I have taken Mybetriq...I love thaat, especially when UTI's are resent, or approaching because they calm the spasms/cramping down. Oxybutynin is the cheapest, and I know in Canada, they make you try this first. I got so incredibly sick with that...I refused to take it.
@pagzplay7 ай бұрын
It is always worse when you have a UTI. Oxybutinin did not make me sick but it just stopped working for me at all and my Spasms just got worse so they had to try something else to get my Catheter in when I get it changed because I was Spasming so much even without a UTI.
