You're very welcome! To help you save time on searching for all the things lol Here's a quick rundown of all the stuff you'll need if you're brand new trying to learn all this camera stuff and what to get. Of course, there are always tons of options but here's my basic list of things I recommend to get: 1. Memory card to record (which you now have) & card reader to transfer content from the card to the computer (which you now also have) 1b. A tripod if you don't already have one. The Amazon Basics 60" is fine if you're brand new. (amzn.to/3eu1YW7) 2. An AC power adapter (If it's going to stay on a tripod in your house 99% of the time) so you don't need a bunch of batteries if you're mostly at home. amzn.to/3pw9G8k) 3. Lights (if you're sitting next to a window cool but if you're recording at night or random times, get lights. This is what I use: amzn.to/3FuCZhc With these diffusion panels to make it soft and even lighting: amzn.to/3pwYKr5) 4. Microphones {Plural because you often need 2-3 types based on the style of content you create.} > For most scenarios you can use with a lapel mic or use a wireless unit like the Rode Wireless Go 2, a shotgun on-camera mic if you're 1-2 feet away from the camera. > Any further away, you'll need a lapel mic to avoid severe echoes that'll sound distracting. If you're live streaming, get a mic for that. Something like that Samson Q2U (amzn.to/3quTCTJ) or Shure MV7 (amzn.to/3z2Qken) is good because it connects via USB to your computer but has ports to grow if you want to. 5. If you're going to live stream, there are 2 main ways you can do that, via USB or via a capture card. > USB is easiest you just need the right cable and this will get you going for that. > Otherwise, it's going to be using HDMI and capture card which is a whole other video lol If you're going to do a USB version, you just need to make sure you're using a data capable cable. (This one: amzn.to/3px0oZR) Hopefully this helps you save some time searching for some other commonly asked questions. 😊

Hi, thanks a lot for a short and concise video! So i have a question, just to confirm with you "SanDisk Extreme Pro - V30" should be able to record all formats (4k 30p & 1080 120p, assuming these are the highest possible settings with most demanding write speeds). So is the card enough to max out all the settings? Or should i go for V60 or V90 instead if i wanna max out settings on my Sony ZV-E10? Thanks a lot
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 8 ай бұрын
You're very welcome! Glad this was helpful for you! Also, thank you so much for the Super Thanks, I'm grateful! ☺️ Yes, the V30 SD cards recommended and linked in this video are more than plenty for the Sony ZV-E10. The ZV-E10's memory card slot is limited to UHS-I and V30 speeds only. So while those fancy V60, V90, or UHS-II cards might be tempting, they're overkill for this camera. They will record but you won't get any benefit from recording your content with those kinds of SD cards in this camera. Other creators use UHS-2 V60 or V90 cards, like myself, if you do have a camera that requires it like the ZV-E1, FX30 or FX3, or even the A7S 3 or A74. Basically, the ZV-E10 won't benefit from the extra speed the card is capable of because the camera isn't. So, you're saving your money by sticking to UHS-I V30 cards and it's the right card for the camera.. Trust me, your recordings will be just as awesome!

Hi, thanks for the video. Do you recommend to format the SD card every time you transfer your videos and photos to your computer? If you format the card, the memory recall saves are lost?
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do actually recommend formatting your SD card before you get ready to re-use the card. The more valuable the footage the moreI want to make sure after I offload those videos to an SSD drive or upload them to the cloud. Now, if I'm shooting something super important I'll put that SD card away until I know the final video is for sure complete - which means you have to have a fair amount of SD cards. However, if I'm recording 4 simple videos in one setting, I'll offload that footage to an SSD and then reformat the card in the camera to keep from having any issued with the card. If you have Memory Recall locked in and you know you'll need it you have a couple of options. 1) Load those saved settings on a couple of cards so you have them no matter what card you pull out to use. 2) Switch between regular manual video mode and the one Memory Recall setting on the camera to at least have 2 settings to swap between.

@DianaGladney

I would imagine there’s a way you probably can but most people still transfer that data initially to an ssd using a computer first. You may want to research into some video creators that only edit from a smartphone and see what workflow they use.

Great vid! Is there a way to connect the NT1 to this camera? Needs the 48 phantom?
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 9 ай бұрын
Thanks! If you're trying to connect a dedicated mic, you'll want a dedicated tool. Get a dedicated system to handle audio at that point. If it's just you, that's one thing, but once you start getting into multiples, it's time to get a specific tool. Trying to split the audio feed with just a 3.5mm splitter isn't ideal. You can get something simple, that's table top like the Vocaster Two: diana.link/Vocaster I've liked using the Zoom H6 before the Vocaster came out, that's even smaller and portable. That's Zoom's Podtrack: diana.link/Podtrack I'd go with the Podtrack for ultimate portability if that's the goal. Or you can get a more portable option that will fit on top of your camera or similar. All of these have the option to enable 48 volt phantom power so you mic is properly powered and still be able to sent that audio into your camera. I like the Vocaster best because it had a dedicated port for sending the audio from the device to the camera using a TRS cable.

@DianaGladney

Two SD cards is great. That way you’re able to record content on one card, and if you’re editing it yourself, you can be working on the video on one card and still have another available to record other stuff. If you travel a lot, three SD cards to have an extra one for that. But 2 SD cards is plenty for most new creators.

As long as it’s an SDXC card, meaning 64GB or larger, you should be fine with the camera not breaking up the files. So the size of the card can be whatever you prefer. I recommend 128GB so that you have plenty of capacity when recording.

@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
Glad the video was helpful for you, Ralph! Here's the reality of it, you need to take the SD card out every time. The transfer speeds via Bluetooth/wireless connection via app won't cut it, and you'll end up burning more time in failed transfers or being unable to do it based on the size of the files. The only thing to do is invest in a fast card reader like the ones suggested by SanDisk or another reputable brand OR don't record in the camera, instead record on your computer using Ecamm Live or something and connect your camera up via HDMI. I get this is a bummer, but that's the breaks with cameras, unfortunately. However, to speed up my workflow, that's what I do, I record in Ecamm Live in 4k or I record on the SD card.

Great! Thanks for this. I've just been plugging my ZVE10 into my computer via usb and copying the file directly off the camera, is there any difference between that and using an sd card reader? I'm only shooting small guitar videos for Insta/youtube anywhere from 2-7mins.
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 11 ай бұрын
Hmm..that's really interesting. I've never personally tested the camera in that way because usually once I'm done recording on one card, I'll use the SD card reader to start uploading and keep shooting on another card. That way I'm free'd up while footage offloads. The only difference I would see would be two: 1) Freeing up your camera to record more content, as I shared. 2) The speed of the transfers. I don't know what the average speed is when using a USB-C cable vs an SD card reader. However, when I researched the card's read speed, they always specify you getting the fastest speeds the card offers when using their SD card reader. So, that's what I've always stuck to, since it works really fast. I'm sure the speed of the USB cable would factor into that as well. But overall how fast or slow the two are versus one another, I have no idea honestly. If that process of using the USB cable works for you and you don't feel it takes up any time to transfer files, then I say go for it. For me though, I stick to SD card readers so I'm not waiting to access the camera while I'm working or on a live call.

@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Sandisk is certainly a reputable company but I wouldn’t trust putting that much footage on one card at this point. Even recording in 4k 10-bit files, I’m just barely filling up a 128GB card. So, unless the video are very large like doing 8k, then that’s when larger card sizes are necessary. I can’t see getting one for the ZV-E10 though. A good card isn’t based on the file sizes it’s based on the card specs. So it can be a large capacity card size wise, and still not be a great SD card for 4k video.

@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
The file size is based on the bit rate and how long you record. Expect to be using up a lot of GBs so I’d recommend using the 256GB Sandisk Extreme card. If you record for 30 minutes at 50Mbps (the highest 60fps version available) your file size will be about 13GBs. The longer you record the larger the files sizes will become.

Great question! If the computer is somewhat new and it's not slow, definitely use it. It's super handy to have one in your computer. However, if you're working with large file sizes and/or long 4k video files, still grab a card reader. The faster read speeds and if it uses a USB-C port or USB 3.0 port will cut down on transfer times like crazy. So, having a good one on hand will only help more.

It may be if you’re in a PAL region versus NTSC that dictates what frame rates are set by default in your camera. Here in the U.S. were NTSC and we will see 24p, 30p, and 60p, etc. If you’re in a PAL region, you’ll see 25p, 50p, etc. Just Google if your country is NTSC or PAL and it’ll tell you. Based on what Google confirms will dictate what frame rates you see and how your camera is set up from factory settings. This is nothing you’d need to change unless you in a PAL region and bought a camera from here in the U.S. for example. That’s all it likely is, no biggie. As far as the SD card, that’s not going to dictate what you do or do not see in the ZV-E10.

SDHC memory cards are 32GB and lower. 64GB and higher capacity are whats known as SDXC. If you record on a card marked SDHC for High Capacity on the ZV-E10 it will break your video files into 4GB. Sony also states this in the camera manual, so it's no real shocker here. You'll want to make sure your memory card is 64GB or higher. I stated all this in the video though if you're experiencing issues with your card, you'll want to ensure you don't have a defective card and format your card before each use in the camera to avoid any issues.

Cards also classified as SDHC for High Capacity aren’t ideal on the E10; that’s what you have. Those larger than 64GB are classified as SDXC for Extreme Capacity. It’s just better to get those that can work in any mode and won’t break the files up into 4GB files. That’s why I didn’t recommended any small capacity cards. Hope this helps clear things up for you.

There's no amount of coverage for all day workshops, private mastermind trainings, podcasts, etc. where some 256GB and 512GB card more than fits the bill. I'm REALLY good taking care of my gear and it never fails every few months the Sandisk extreme and extreme pro sd cards eventually break, and always when the card is full lol. Having 1-3 videos or 1-2 podcasts on a card, maybe a few more is as much as you'd want on one card. You can pop in another one and start offloading footage while another is recording. Trusting a massive amount of ZV-E10 Mark 1 footage to one card is just a liability waiting to happen. So, of course, you can use whatever you want with the camera, but I'm putting it out there, don't.

is 512GB supported by this camera?

Yep! The size the card holds isn't a big deal until you get too low in storage space as mentioned in the video. The other thing is make sure you're using a UHS-I card, the storage size is preference.

I teach buying cameras and getting into video in a very simple framework using an acronym called A.L.V.A.S. (Officially you may hear me call it the A.L.V.A.S. Hierarchy of Investments.) A - Audio | L - Lighting | V - Video | A - Accessories | S - Software Most important thing will be Audio, get a mic that will fit 90% of how you plan to create content. Whether a podcast style mic, wireless lapel mic, or shotgun mic for vlogging. Lighting is 2nd most important; I use these (Diana.Link/lights) and have been for years with some D-Fuse diffusion softboxes. Video, you already have your camera picked out it seems, which is fine. Something to think about in addition to the kit lens is a more ideal lens based on what you plan to do. Vlogging? Then the Sony 10-18mm f4 OSS lens would be my go-to. Plan on live streaming or recording in a home office, I'd go with something like the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens, etc. Accessories: This is where you'll spend A LOT of time tweaking based on your needs and how you create. Ideally you want to get what you need for the camera, then anything you'd need for any other major areas of creating like your audio cable accessories, etc. Bare bones must haves? SD card, SD card reader, extra battery, USB battery charger, AC power adapter if you plan to live stream, Elgato Cam Link for pro 4k live stream setups, etc. This list of what to buy depends on what you plan to create, but that's usually the basics, which can be found here: Diana.Link/ZVE10Accessories Software is basically digital accessories but can either make your life easier as a creator or harder and more time-consuming. Granted, not a must-have when buying your first camera, but something to think about if you plan to stream, will be editing your content yourself for the first time, etc. Anything I use or would recommend for gear, you can find here: diana.link/ZVE10Gear What you ultimately buy is ALWAYS going to be based on your intended use case. If I'm traveling and vlogging, that's a lean and mean setup of one lens, 1-2 mic types, and a handful of accessories to make my life easier. If I'm creating in my home office, it's a much more complex setup because I want it to cover multiple functions in how I work, create content, take client calls, etc. Yes, when you get the camera, kit lens, and a memory card, you can start recording out the gate but when you start questioning and wondering why it looks a certain way, there's no blurry background, and how to fix the audio, etc. that's when the A.L.V.A.S. System becomes your new best friend. Hope this helps!

I have bought my Sony ZV-E10 in Europe, I can't insert a SD Card but only Memory Stick and impossible to read the card (same effect with Micro SDXC Class 10 UHS-I + adaptor Memory Stick). Anybody hasn't a problem similar?
