Nice! Yeah, it's a little learning curve coming from Canon. But the menus are going to go in the same flow: photos, video stuff, playback, network, the toolbox, and the my menu. If you've done this initial setup, add your top menu items to the my menus screen, and you won't have to be bothered with any of the others except on the rare occasion you want to change things. I switched from Canon too, and it wasn't too bad.

You’re very welcome! If you’re having where you’re focusing is constantly re-acquiring focus that’s a situation you actually don’t need to leave your camera in autofocus but switch to, temporarily, manual focus. There are some shots you may desire to get that even with the best autofocus it’s better to temporarily use manual focus. The wide zone autofocus is what I always leave mine in unless manual or product showcase is the better option in a certain scenario. I checked out your videos and based on the way you’re framing some of your shots, center autofocus may be best or manual Ave then the test of your video you can go back to worse autofocus and let it stay there. Let me know if you need help with any of that and I’ll help you sort it out.

@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
That'd be a great video Masood but most of my community on the channel are not real estate videographers. However, if you're looking to create real estate based videos it's more so going to be based on the kind of lens you use versus any specific set of settings. Something like the Sony 10-18 f4 lens, the Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 lens, or the Tamron 17-28mm f2.8 lens to get the best results for that kind of work. Here's a creator I recommend you check out for that kind of video: kzbin.infosearch?query=real%20estate

@@DianaGladney I figured it out. I had the camera plugged into the AC power option rather than a battery. When I plugged in the battery, I noticed I can adjust the brightness. You will see what I am referring to at the 24:50 mark of your video.
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
Oh! Yes, gotcha! Yeah, if you’re connected via battery or USB-C for power you will see that option available. When connected via AC I guess Sony assumed since you’re usually going to use an external monitor source, there’s no point.

@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful! To get a blurry background you need to have a lens with an apron f2.8 or lower. The lower the number the blurrier the background will be. If you’re creating videos in your studio or at home you can check out the Sigma 16mm lens and see if it’s right for you. Hi Diana! I've just purchased this camera and I'm following along to set it up. I notice that most of the 1080p record settings have a 'super-35' mode on them... and it seems to come with a heavy crop. The 4k record options don't have that, and there's no crop. Is that right? All the 1080 record options are going to be cropped? I'm worried as I often like to shoot in 1080 for a smaller file size, but don't want cropped footage.
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
The Sony ZV-E10 already is an APS-C sensor size camera, which means Super 35 (it means the same thing). In your this camera, there are no two different crop modes between the 4k or 1080p option when shooting on the camera because it’s all the same. It’s not until you’re in 30p in 4k that there is a very small crop but beyond that, there are no crops on the camera. So you can choose any of the 1080p modes and there is no change or additional crop in 24p, 30p, or 60p when recording so you’ll be good to record whatever you prefer.

Glad the video was helpful for you! I tend to use the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens for most tutorial videos and I use the Sony 10-18mm f4 lens for any vlogs or traveling, and the Sony 35mm f1.8 lens for live streams. So, not a lot of zoom lenses, nearly all prime lenses with one focal length. To get an idea of the space I use with the Sigma 16mm and how that'd work, here's a quick video that shares that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3a4lIqLgNCBZ6M

HEy Diana, just found your channel and literary bingewatching everything. Thank you for the clear and concise content... Now I recently bought this beauty zV E10 with 10-18mm Sony lense and I am totally new to the film making scene. I am learning and shooting in manual mode and I am doing exactly what you suggested in another video as to how to set up aperture, shutter speed, ISO, White balance, etc...Now my confusion comes with lots of fancy settings on this camera that I cannot wrap my brain around how one can change setting while filming and need suddenly to switch on a specific setting. This was just a remark :) Now onto my question - I see people having a quick button to switch between manual and autofocus on this camera. While I understand what each of these focusses mean I don't see PRACTICALLY how do you apply this switch WHILE FILMING. And more importantly why would you do manual focus when you have this tracking object auto-focus function. I hope my long question makes sense... just trying to understand how to use my camera.THANK YOU
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
Howdy! You can always feel free to ask questions here, glad my other videos were helpful! 😊 When it comes to manual vs autofocus and those types of remarks you see online it honestly comes from cinematography or videography snobs who have a background in the very very early days of autofocus when it was crap and unreliable so they don’t fully trust autofocus. The other side of that is when you’re making content that is a stylistic choice and the cameras analysis is focusing on what the creator doesn’t want it to focus on or it’s a type of scene where you don’t want the camera distracted trying to constantly reacquire focus, you want it to focus on a certain thing. Or a cameras minimum focusing distance (how close you can get to the lens) is at one point and you want to manually focus on something specific is another reason for manual focus. Beyond these two common scenarios you can choose to rely on your camera’s autofocus and it will perform as you need it to 98% of the time. Even I have my manual vs autofocus toggle always assigned to a button on the offshoot I want to do something that requires it. If video and cameras are all new to you, none of this matters lol. As you go along your path creating content your ideas will have you explore other functions of your camera. Until then don’t get distracted thinking some of this stuff are things you need to learn early on when it’s not but you won’t know that because you’re new to all this. Focus on creating. In every new video work on improving one thing that didn’t go quite as well as you’d hoped in the last video. That could be lighting or the audio, whatever. From there, focus on what’s important and keep creating. 😊

If you go back to the HDMI settings section, you will see that if you're not wanting to see the icons on screen, your HDMI Info Display should be set to OFF. That way you don't see the icons on screen. Also, make sure you're in the video mode on the camera vs the Photo mode. Just double back and make sure you have all the settings dialed in.

Depending on what you value the most video wise, something like the Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 lens may serve most of your needs. It doesn’t have stabilization in the lens but you will have access to digital stabilization or you could use a small gimbal if needed. That’d be my recommendation for what you listed above. Hope that helps!

So I'm not quite understanding why I'm my camera when I go into the movie mode it says macro as well and doesn't look like I'm in the same setting as you yeah which I honestly didn't notice until we got to the iso exposure settings

If you're seeing a white camera icon with a hollow circle in the middle of it in the very top left of you camera screen, you're in photo mode. Press the "Fn" function button, in the bottom right of that on screen menu should be an options that says "Shoot Mode". Select it. You should be taken to a screen that says "Macro" based on what you're describing. Put your camera into the "Program Auto" mode (if you want automatic photo settings) or "Manual Exposure" mode (if you want manual photo settings), then press the center button to select that option. Once you've done that, that will make sure your photo settings are out of Macro mode. Now, press the Mode dial at the top of your camera. If you see a Camera Icon (looks like a camcorder) and it's saying macro or something else and that icon is colored green in the very top left corner of your camera, press the "Fn" function button again, select "Shoot Mode", scroll through those options until you see "Manual Exposure" and press the center button on your camera to select that. You should now see a white camera (looks like a camcorder) icon with the letter "M" next to it in the very top left corner of your camera.

Audio problem - Any ideas? I'm using my ZV-E10 to stream to my iMac. For sound I use a dynamic mic going into Focusrite Vocaster Two interface going into my iMac. This works great EXCEPT for a vocal sync issue. I mainly use Zoom, Streamflow, and Quicktime to record. To solve the audio sync issue I am trying to run the audio out from the Vocaster (camera TRS output socket) directly into the mic socket on the ZV-E10. This is perfectly synced and crystal clear, UNTIL I connect the ZV-E10 to my iMac (via either USB or mini HDMI (via Camlink 4k)), which introduces massive noise. As soon as I connect the camera to the iMac, the noise starts. If there is not a solution, perhaps there is software that will help me solve the sync issue. I suspect that OBS or Ecamm Live have a solution. Although I'm open to that (and the learning curve) I'd rather find out what the cause of the problem is first. Any advice very much appreciated.

Hi Diana. Great Video. I recently bought my ZV-E10. While I am recording I noticed a shadow coming from bottom to top on the camera screen. The shadow scroll up slowly and repeat the same cycle. It is normal ? or something related to my lights at my studio? Thanks.

@@DianaGladney It seems the shadow is gone and it is possible related to the way I am powering the camera. I am using my Camlink and for powering I am using the USB-C cable direct to the adapteur connected to my electricity. For some reason my Camlink is heating quickly and I realized the battery is not charging. Do you think I should buy a dummy?

If you’re set up for long recording or streaming you always want to have an AC power connection. As far as the scrolling shadow, I’m curious, do you have a light or something behind you and these shadows were like horizontal rows moving up the camera screen.

Swap into photo settings and where you enabled the start recording with shutter button option, just disable that. When going through this video, you’d want to be in the video tab, but your photo settings should differ in some areas.

Hmm check swapping out the cables and cords. Sounds silly but sometimes if a cable goes bad it can cause things to slow down. Beyond that, I’m not sure. Make sure you’re connected via Ethernet and not wifi and run some tests.

@@DianaGladney Thanks, I hear what your saying. Thing is, the mini HDMI to HDMI cable is brand new as it the one that came with the camlink. One thing I did that made it dramatically better after I wrote to you was I switched USB 3.0 ports and unplugged my Logicam from the USB-C port and that made it a whole lot better. Today is pretty good, but slight lag.

I am a beginner in photography and I am looking for a mirrorless camera solely for photography. Can you please let me know which camera - Sony ZV E10 or Canon M50 Mark ii is better for photography including low light performance? Or are both cameras equally good as far as photography is concerned?

That's a great question! Here's the honest truth, yes, you can take photos with either one of them but you will honestly get better quality and performance from the Sony ZV-E10. Here are a couple of reasons why I would suggest going the Sony route: 1. The Sony sensors aren't crippled like on the M50 models. While both are 24MP sensors, the Sony sensor is sharper, has great quality in photos because the sensor isn't dumbed down. I could put both cameras at the exact same settings and ISO and the M50's quality wouldn't be as sharp and the M50 sensor needs much more light to work well in the same environment vs the Sony. 2. Better features. The M50 will say it has eye AF but it's slow as heck. You get eye and face eye AF on the ZV-E10 at 11 frames per second which is pretty fast. The other thing is when you're on the M50 there are features blocked or locked into only using certain modes with it like the Silent Shooting. I have done a lot of video and photo work for my church and on the occasion, I took the M50 to test its photo abilities, it suffered. I couldn't access the full range of my camera settings in Manual mode AND stay in silent, it made me have to select some automatic feature where I can't change the settings manually. 3. Customization abilities. One thing you get on Sony cameras is the ability to save your custom profiles on your camera AND customize your button options. How I create videos and what buttons I want to quickly access are very different when I'm in photo mode. So, I have a certain set up just for videos and another for photos. Soon as I switch modes, all my settings are saved and I can start using whatever I need. - You're looking at the ZV-E10 for photos and it's a great camera but it is more video-focused which is why the camera body doesn't have as many buttons as the Sony a6600 or even the a6400. As a beginner, this may not matter to you but as you grow as a photographer it may. Having a camera with a more photography-focused body makes it easier to access certain buttons to use when shooting photos. - The number of buttons the ZV-E10 currently has is fine but it means you'll have to use the quick menu option or have certain things saved to your My Menu for quick access. 4. Native Lens Options: The Sony E Mount is massive. Yes, you could adapt lenses from the Canon EF for a good portion of those lenses they're not as sharp and the autofocus isn't as fast as they are older DSLR cameras. It isn't an issue for a lot of creators since they're older they're often cheaper. However, I would consider later on as you mature in your craft what your upgrade path looks like. The Sony E Mount has a ton of excellent quality lenses and tons of excellent 3rd party options. These are reasons I'd recommend going the Sony route for photography and even though the ZV-E10 is pretty hard to find these days online, you can still get all those options in any of their other cameras and sometimes more.

can you change aspect ratio for video?
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Nope, not in video mode but if you rotate your actual camera, it'll show in that mode when connected via HDMI. I use Ecamm Live that allows me adjust the aspect ratio of the stream, and rotate the camera image to whatever I want. So, if you're using something like that, you can. Otherwise, you can try streaming in the photo mode and see if that'll work for whatever orientation you're wanting to do but I've never personally tried it so I don't know how that'd work out. Otherwise, just rotate the physical camera for veritcal or use a tool that'll crop the image for you.

@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney 2 жыл бұрын
Depending on what country you're in, you may see some differences like 25p vs 23.98p (aka 24p) and 50p vs 60p - which means you're settings are PAL based and NTSC as here in the United States. If you're from the U.S. and you're seeing these, you'l want to go into your camera menu and go to the toolbox, page 2 for the NTSC/PAL selector and see which is enabled. To see which you need based on what country you're in or purchased your camera, you'll want to adjust it to match what you should actually use in your current country.

my footage is too big 13 minute is 51 GB big size file... it's not normal right..? how is it..?
@DianaGladney
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Nope, not possible on the ZV-E10 for just 13 minutes of footage. The max recording bit rate and frame rate is 4k 30 frames per second at 100 Megabytes per second. In any frame rate, it's maxed at 100Mbps when recording videos. That would put you at roughly 10 GB, even if you recorded in 4k. So, unless you're using a different camera or recording longer than that, something else is up. Double-check the memory card you're using (make sure it's from a reliable brand), format it before recording, but that's the best I can suggest to you.
