As a man with kinky/curly hair, I appreciate this video. As Jamal said, there aren't too many videos out there by professionals like you guys for black men. I also understand, considering demand. I'm hoping that this video opens up a gate for men of color to see and learn from the rest of your awesome videos like I have the past year or so. Keep up the good work, Ashley. Love ya! Oh, and thank you for your direct answer to my question on one of your first live streams! It was perfect for church. I loved the look and so did everyone else.

He's awesome. He and a few other groomers are in my brain trust if a client asks me something about their hair/skin that I'm not comfortable answering without consulting them first.

I got some super unique hair. It’s super frizzy static-y auburn hair and it just doesn’t fit any category. These just wouldn’t work. When you comb it it makes it fluffier. I’ve can’t find my hair type anywhere. It’s super cool though and I found a hairstyle that works

Hey Ashley, I see that you guys touched on fine curly hair but didn’t go too in depth about it. Is it because that has more to do with styling than the cut? Will their be a future video addressing that? So far what I’ve picked up from this series is that my best bet would be to use a thickening shampoo and conditioner (like the Kevin Murphy products you recommended previously) and then a leave-in conditioner (like coconut oil). Would that work?

Ashley Weston please do a video on hairstyles for Asian/Chinese men!!!
@MensFashioner7 жыл бұрын
So you mean thick or fine hair? It's discussed in the videos for each of the hairtypes still to come out.
@lax14127 жыл бұрын
Its far more specific a problem than that. The general coarse and ridiculous straightness of Asian hair poses serious challenges for men since its harder to manage at shorter lengths. Compound that with the fact that many stylists don't have as much experience with cutting it and the options for hairstyles become more limiting than caucasian straight hair, à la Bieber in his bowl cut days.
@MensFashioner7 жыл бұрын
This is exactly discussed in the future videos. I'm asian, and my brother has this problem, as well.
@Ethan-rw7ub7 жыл бұрын
+Ashley Weston I have very soft, fine hair but a lot of people I know have coarse, thick hair. So I guess I mean both? It's just that the "classic" hairstyles don't work well with the shape of our head and the quality of our hair.

What do you think about braids/cornrows for men with kinky hair? Just wondering because I have a lot of hair and I almost always wear cornrows.
@MaikalAmadeus7 жыл бұрын
Micah Providence to answer your question, try to think of how many celebrities (these are celebrity stylists after all) have cornrows. Not many. Most of those that choose cornrows are the flashy types with the flashy clothes like lil Wayne and the like. If you want a flashy style, no one will stop you, but those styles are meant to shock people and draw attention. Not to look good.
@MensFashioner7 жыл бұрын
It's definitely a look. If you're going for the streetwear/urban look, then for sure. But if you're wanting to look like a classy, more sophisticated man, then the association with that hairstyle wouldn't work for that objective.

Not necessarily good advice because the men referenced are Caucasian or Asian men - Just explain with specifics, such hair types, textures, level of dryness - Moonlight was excellent but there is a way grow and enhance natural curls - Honestly, we need to see then using certain products specific to African hair
