What's the best microphone for the Sony ZV-1. I tested the Saramonic SR-XM1, Comica Boom X-U wireless lav and the Saramonic Blink 500 Wireless lav as well as the onboard mic in the Sony ZV-1. You can hear the differences between each mic (drop a comment and let me know what you thought was best) as well as see the range of the wireless lav systems.

Good options there. My best results are with the Rode Wireless Go. Expensive, but worth it. My Rode VideoMicro is great on it also. For the tiny mic I like my Edutige ETM 001.

Ah!!! Very very good! Audio is *more* important than video, or rather, audio quality is more important than video quality. Withing reasonable limits of course :-), I mean, a really cr.ppy video quality is ... well, can be sold as a *style* :-), bad audio quality cannot, or much more difficult in any case. I have been teaching this to my students saying: sound is paramount. It is related to the fact that "if seeing is believing, then hearing is feeling" and we all want to *feel* . Excellent video Vic, thanks a lot for this!

I have the Rode Video Micro for mine. I’d say it works fairly well, however with the deadcat on, the mic tends to hang down in front of the ZV-1 enough to be barely visible when shooting at the widest level, or with the ulanzi.

@VicBarry got a question. What is the best microphone for under $100 while using the Sony zv-1 two primary ways... First, on a tripod and talent is ten feet or less away and looking at the camera. Second, hand held vlogging with the Sony vlogging grip?
@VicBarry
@VicBarry 3 жыл бұрын
To be honest at ten feet away you’ll have to look at a wireless lav system unless you want to start extending cables for a normal mic and mounting it. As for the vlogging grip it’s fine but figure out do you need the wireless functions

Audio levels in the settings menu, but where they are varies from camera to camera and some cameras don’t have an audio levels option. That’s it. If it’s too loud turn the levels down or too low turn the levels up

We are going to upgrade our mic. We are shooting with the ZV-1 and Canon EOS M5. We'd like to get the best, most rich sound. We used a Yeti Blue when sitting at the desk, but we also shoot standing up and the Yeti doesn't work well for that. We will occasionally need two mics for interviews, likely lav. We are mostly in the studio and can go wired or wireless. If we wanted flat-out the best, richest sound, what is a good option?
@VicBarry
@VicBarry 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jay, either Rode, Saramonic or Shure. The wireless kits from Rode and Saramonic are really superb. Outside of that you're looking at shotgun mics that will more than likely have to be used with an external sound recorder

Hi Vic, as always your ZV-1 vids are great! I've got a bit of an off-topic question though. Whenever I take my vids / pictures off my memory card either through USB or with a card reader, and I turn my camera back on, I see it never fully erases things off the card and I get a lot of question marks on the playback area. I have a Mac - I guess this is a weird Mac thing? The internet recommended deleting the files from trashcan too. I tried that but I still get the same errors. I always end up having to completely empty my SD card and then reformatting it to erase everything. Do you have any advice for this situation by chance?
@VicBarry
