Sounds like you're in PAL mode. 120 is available in NTSC mode (Tab 5, Page 2 of the Sony menu)

Try shooting with a higher aperture to avoid a shallow depth of field. Also make sure defocus is off.

You can have your photography default on the M Mode or whichever rather than taking up a MR Preset. That would allow 3 to be normal frame rate 1080p for example

I'm using this camera for my channel. One thing to keep in mind after making these changes proposed in this video for video mode is you're now filming in HDR. You've got to change some settings in Final Cut Pro to be able to process this right. Also, these changes made my shot very yellow. Still playing around with this - I don't know much about these camera settings.

Thank you. Subscribed. I've had the ZV-1 since it came out with Vlogging handle. I like the entire set up except for my line of work stabilization has been more of the struggle. I have invested in a Zhiyun Crane V2 gimbal. It's OK but I do like DJI gimbal's I have had with my phones better and going to maybe add the DJI Ronin SC yet. I also tried to download the Sony app for stabilization and cannot get my (newer this year) Surface Notebook 2 to accept the Sony Catalyst software to try... Anyway I'm just "a Carpet Cleaner with a KZbin Channel" and I'm learning a lot this year having purchased the ZV-1 which is one of my first cameras in a long time. I have bought a bunch of gear to try and keep improving, and I have to say most important to me, I'm having fun! So if you (or anyone) have any info on best stabilization, would appreciate it. I also shoot in 4k and just added a wider lens kit to the camera. Hope to get out in the field and shoot with that soon. I'm a bit laid up since having full knee replacement a month ago (had fun wearing the knees out racing snowmobiles and jet skis in my day by the way 😁🏁) Thank you for this video. It's such an awesome camera, the animal eye tracking and continuous auto focus for video and stills is by far superior to other cams, sold my fujifilms xt3 and xt30 kept the xt1 for my manual lenses, and if it wasn't for the noise levels on this sensor and limited zoom it would be the only 1 camera you need

The tutorials are super helpful so thanks. But often with all the one's I've seen, the maker is too familiar with the subtle presses and doesn't take into account that we can't quite see what actions they are taking. I couldn't follow the set up of the custom buttons at all as it wasn't clear how you are getting to your choices.

​ @Commander Panda, Hi Panda thanks for taking time to reply - I tried ND on (do you need to manually turn ND on and off constantly depending on sun or bright light?) and that improved it but still didn't look as good as full auto (on the onboard screen to me anyways) but maybe on the pc it would look better? (never checked that - any ideas?) - but I would like to get these settings right so I can have the shutter speed twice the frame rate - the only settings I have different are bit rate set to 60 instead of 100 as I dont do any colour correction would that cause it? -the only other difference is when I switch camera on it says "running on ntsc". Do you use the settings in this video? - if so do you get good results? cheers! and sorry for long winded reply from a newbie!

@@ALochOnTheWildSide no problem and don’t worry I’m a newbie to this camera too! I only got mine yesterday. The ND filter is for blocking out a bit of sunlight when shooting outdoors. Think of it as sunglasses for your camera. NTSC is the region. I’m from the UK so my camera defaults to PAL but I’ve changed it to NTSC to enable 4k 30fps recording. I try and record in the highest bitrate available as I want as much detail as possible in my recordings. You can always take stuff away in post much easier than adding stuff in. (At least I think that’s correct, someone please tell me if I’m wrong)

@@MathewMynett Hi cheers man - mmmm...I get the ND thingy but the sun can come and go behind clouds etc pretty quick so is it best to leave ND on do you think on a fairly bright day? I did all the settings as I do want 24FPS (I am in UK too) but camera says switching to NTSC when turned on but when I use memory recall its still sitting at 24FPS so I guess (NTSC/PAL) does not affect memory settings...who knows...LOL - will figure it out.... I have been using for a few months with various settings and various results...here's a tip though I found out the hard way, when product showcase is on it needs to be on a fixed tripod or desk or whatever (not moving whatsoever) - I went on a long hike and product showcase was on...which switches off stabilization - whole hike shaky as fook - had to correct it with "Catalyst Browse" sony stabilisation software which crops it a lot to stabilise...lesson learned for me - so if you are doing any vlogging make sure product showcase is off! Cheers Again..

Hope you can help me with this question. So the ZV-1 is actually my first camera ever and I am happy with starting with this device, as I feel I can learn so much before moving on to a more “professional” camera. I’ve been shooting misting using smartphones and 3rd part apps. So I am familiar with the “cinematic” 180 degree rule. I basically used your settings for my zv-1 because I need to start somewhere but with the 24fps memory recall setup, the camera won’t allow me to select the lowest ISO below 200 at 1/50 shutter speed and the picture is totally blown out even with the ND. Is it safe to select a higher ISO on this device where it won’t introduce noise? I don’t want to adjust the f-stop over 1.8 because I want the SDF. Do I leave the ISO and mess with the f-stop and loose quality? Or deal with the noise and fix it in post? Thanks so much. I know it’s a long one 😄

I will have to research some more on the 1/50 f1.8 iso 200 pp10 profile and perhaps get and external VND attached to get that cinematic motion blur and DOF look, especially in daylight :). In low light the settings are fine but sometimes the highlights are blown. Thank you for replying.

Secondly when I changed the slow motion setting you suggested 120/100, mine only goes to 100/100. Any reason why. ( also in the other setting I have 25/100 not 24/100 ) Sorry total beginner.

Your camera is set to PAL and cause of that there is only the option of 25 / 50 / 100. If set to NTSC the options will be 24 / 30 / 60 / 120.... hope that helps, had the same problem...

Regarding Picture Profile, using HLG2 does that require you doing a lot of color correcting in post (flat profile) or is it great directly out of camera? im not good at color correcting so wonder if I should use potrait
