Best MK2 Aygo Bonnet/Hood Strut Upgrade?

Did the instructions state to actually put the bracket behind the hood hinge? That will destroy the alignment of the hood by lifting it up in the back like in the side shots of the car

No, the instructions where quite light on this detail, but you are right, it does lift it ever so slightly and it's something I need to change, which I will cover at some point.

It's something I am certainly looking at! I'll do a little bit of digging to see how viable it is and if I find out it is, a video will absolutely be getting made!

Another great mod and one I had not heard of! I will be doing this one too. I think you may have got the bonnet brackets the wrong side of the hinge? As you have sandwiched the new plate between the hinge and the bonnet, it will have the effect of raising the back of the bonnet slightly? Should the new plates be fitted under the hinge or won't they fit? I love my Aygo too!!!

That's a good observation re the hinges. From memory, it seems that you do put them in between the hinge and the bonnet based on the instructions, but you very well might be right! It will certainly raise the bonnet ever so slightly, but I didn't notice any particular issues with it. I think you could definitely fit them under the hinges, I just didn't. Hi, I have finally fitted the kit myself (had a delay as dropped one of the slam panel balljoints never to be seen again, so had to order a replacement from China!!). Agree the instructions are confusing as they show it with the bonnet brackets both above and below the hinges. If above the hinges, then they raise the bonnet and the shut lines alter. However, I found out the bonnet bolts are stepped for location/alignment purposes and do not go through the slots in the bracket if the bracket is below the hinge. I decided to leave the bonnet bolts nearest the bulkhead in place to locate the bonnet, and cut the brackets down and filed the holes larger to enable the other stepped bolts to go through them. I then had to get thinner nuts for the ball studs that bolt to the hinge bracket. Anyway, all done and working well!! Thank you for bringing this mod to my attention. Cheers
