Thanks for the shout out. I threw in that auto rack with the cars because it’s a tri-ang. I only noticed at the show last minute. So I’m assuming you’ll go back to this swap meet in March? I went once and picked up some great locos for a buck each. I did a mail call on them way back. If I had of known I’d one day meet you, I would have kept them all.

I could be mistaken but I think the Union Pacific Cattle car from MARX should be from either just before WW2 or just after and the two Lionel metal trains should be pre WW2, after the war I think Lionel switched to plastic pretty fast. Great hull all around

Not to be rude but the Lionel is post ww2 you can tell by the the way they have knuckle couplers . Now I don't know about the Marx stuff . I moddel Lionel o gauge .

You're right about the stock car, that is a Marx item. I have had a decent experience with them, as my first model train was a Marx windup. Additionally, I recently bought a Marx trainset, and while I needed to purchase a additional Lionel transformer (the original one smoked), I have gotten some experience running it. Despite it being noisy, it runs very good. The wheel system on the NYC coaches is the exact same kind as the stock car. While I'm not actually sure when it was built, it would seem to be from the 1950s and does a horrid job of showing its age. Marx is one of the few brands that I know of that retained tinplate construction into the 50s. However, I could be wrong, as I am apt to misremember things when I do not get enough coffee.

The metal O guage car is made by Marx it is a cattle an it came in two versions one with the slotted doors an one with doors that has no slots the one you have is the more rare version because it has the slotted doors Marx made much more less of the slotted version of this car which is what you have here than the version of this car with no slotted doors an alos very awesome haul!!!!

Life-Like used to offer HO scale " Light - Ups " as did AHM & Model Power. In the early 1970s, those street lights were sold in a set of 5 - later they were sold in a set of 3. They also used to offer gas station lights; Mobile, Exxon, Shell, & Gulf. Other HO items were lighted billboards, a traffic light, & overhead lighted highway signs. O-scale " Light-Ups " included a set of 3 street lamps, 2 fluorescent street lights with an " Airport -> " sign, & 2 lights for the " A & P " supermarket chain. Model Power also made some N scale operating street lamps.

that baby ruth car seems to have a "scout" truck with the hangy down pin 1947 incompatable with normal lionel coupler -phased out in 1953.I'd probably rob the trucks from the red pensy caboose and use them on the baby ruth.

That last plastic piece that you said I don’t know what this is it’s actually a piece that goes underneath and between the tracks when you want one of the cars that has the round buttons on the bottom to uncouple you press that the side button and it lets up in the air inside and a couple is the car that’s the purpose of that little black device !!! 🌊🐺

The orange baby Ruth and the red caboose are dead knock off for a company called Kuson !!! I’ve seen them go on eBay for less than a dollar and Then see them blow up in price within seven days !!!!’ If they’re allowed to sell the products on auction I was in the of the first week they’re gone and they pay half the prices on the Kuson !!! No the one pulled out that look like it is a pressed steel templates bench into shape it looks like it could be Lionel but it could be Bring ??? It could be any of the other manufactures the times like that especially in a gauge most of the stuff you picked up was incredible as far as you know you got some great deals do you PLUS ; a Fleet of locomotives for an awesome roundhouse!!! Your roster is growing ! And in general we all learn a little bit about each other !!! Keep up the good work !!! 🌊🐺

If you plug the controller in you may be in for the shock of your life !!! If what I saw is correct and there is the plug outlet wire separated and connected to the “two top screws” that’s not right !!! It goes into the housing which is usually dead bottom center were it enters and goes up inside ! Please make sure you double check those wires and where they’re connected and if they’re coming out of the transformer correctly I I recognize the transformer from before and I’ve seen dealers take the plug or wire where the plug is and screwed on top to sell it fast !!!! Usually trying to make money out of a burnt out transformer !!! Be careful ! 🌊🐺

@Petemonster625 жыл бұрын
S.M.T. The tin-lithograph livestock car, Glendale station, switch tracks, crossover, & I think the plastic house are Marx products. The tower had an aircraft beacon with red or a red & green lens; Lionel, American Flyer, & Marx all had a version. There is a guy on the Internet who shows how to add track pins to the point rails on Marx switches so the Lionel center-rail pick-up roller will smoothly travel over the space between the rails ( Marx used a " sliding shoe " center rail contact like the Trix Twin engines. ). Benz Trains has some videos about Marx track. I think the Baby Ruth Boxcar & Caboose have Scout couplers that won't mate with the other Lionel couplers. The Robert Grossman Company has many Marx parts! You may eventually want to get a larger, higher wattage Lionel transformer with a whistle switch for your Hudson. The transformer may run your Grandma's Trix Twin engines. The crossover appears to have a round center rail contact in the square plastic center piece that is missing. Try a solution of Dove dishwashing detergent to clean the cars; careful with the old toothbrush around lettering & stripes!
@Petemonster625 жыл бұрын
S.M.T. I tried to find the " Guy on the Internet " website that I had mentioned about, but I no longer can find him. His tip, I believe, was for modifying Marx switch tracks for use with Lionel locomotives. The tip is to use track pins in the fixed center rails that face the " point rails " to span most of the gap, so the Lionel engine's center rail pick-up rollers will move more smoothly when transferring from fixed center rail - to - " points " center rail - to fixed center rail. The roller pick - up assembly can be damaged as the locomotive hits the gaps!
@Petemonster625 жыл бұрын
S.M.T. Please disregard my comment about the Marx crossover track; it is intact. There is no round, center contact - my bad!

the o scale looks like american flyer consists . I own both o scale and HO scale , I like fixing things so O scale is more fun because you can sometimes get them really really cheap but after fixing them , they work like charm. O scale is also good for modifications . The drawbacks for O scale is the tracks , fastrack is too expensive and extremely noisy in my opinions and the old o27 tracks are extremely hard to clean but it's actually unexpectedly quieter than fastrack. personally I dont find HO very attractive to me except some European ones but i do like some highly detailed steam loco and union pacific yellow skin. good findings there ,
