Do these 3ltr diesel engines need a catch can?.. Thinking of buying my sons off him, his PJ 2007 model, huge km 290,000km, 5 speed Auto

Hey mate, They do have an EGR that puts exhaust gasses back through the engine so without something to catch blow by the soot can cake up on the engine intake. Its a good idea to do so but if the EGR is blocked they aren’t needed and if you stay on top of maintenance it should be fine. Cheap insurance though. Definitely great cars, I hope she does you well if you do get it. Thanks for the comment mate

Yeah look I haven’t had any problems with mine so far. It does only have 198,000 and it is manual so can’t speak for the auto, but I definitely love it. Ive seen some around with 450,000-500,000kms so you should be fine as long as you look after it

If its an auto, get that checked over. Valve bodies and connection plates do give issues, but the internal gear hardware/pressure plates etc are bloody good.
