Hello Joe. Jealousy is the word to use when you are jealous over something that belongs to you. When you want something that does not belong to you, that feeling is called covetousness, not jealousy. There is a big difference. If a man is jealous over his wife, this is normal. If a man is covetous over another woman, that is normal but also immoral and that man ought correct himself.

@startedtech 2 жыл бұрын
@@killout18 no, jealousy has broader definitions than that as well.

I actually love the piece. I could see it making that much as it’s a key painting from that film. I always wondered what happened to the living room ocean painting from the Jeffersons. I always thought it was gorgeous growing up.

Given the tight budget for Blade Runner, it's surprising that the decorators paid so much for background art when a poster would have done the job for a couple of dollars !

Any info on the original image that is on that print? When I was a kid, my mom had an old address book with a wooden cover, and that exact image was on it (but much smaller, obviously)!

Yes, the set decorator bought the piece in 81 for when the movie was being made, and it’s estimated it was originally painted in the 50s or60.

Strongly doubt she'd receive anywhere near $8K for it. Appraiser's comparison of backdrop vs prop worth was later ignored when price announced.

Better sell it while there are still people alive that remember this movie and have enough money to blow $10K on it. In 20 years it will be worth $700 again. This is not an heirloom.

This is just false. Blade Runner is a cultural milestone, hugely influential in film and many other areas of popular culture. It is preserved in the Library of Congress, and widely cited as one of the best or most important films of the 20th century. This painting is featured in a key scene, and unlike a lot of set dressing, is actually a functional object that does not require a special display. The market for this is huge, and the people who are into these types of film have money to spend.

Good point actually, hadn’t thought of it that way. One thing is for a film to be a classic , which you may not have seen and you are told that it is a classic ; another very different thing is when you watch a film and can’t get enough of it , which is the definition of a “cult “ film

@@Rainy_Day12234 You only need two of them who both really want it and you've got a bidding war going. IIRC Dan Lanigan paid almost $300k for his Deckard PKD Blaster in 2009 and people thought he was nuts, but a Han Solo DL-44 sold for over a million dollars in August.
