Counterpoint: Gwenna doesn’t require 50+ lands because it is a mana dork, meaning you have fewer games like the first one (oops all lands). Also, verdant rejuvenation in a big green deck is a joy. You should try it out.

I absolutely love gwenna. She can pop off hard on turn 4/5 depending on your draw

Gwenna's problem is essentially "it dies to doom blade". If it's removed before you untap it just does nothing, and if removed twice it costs 7+mana and becomes basically useless. Azusa has an immediate impact because it allows you to play 2 more lands before opponent even gets a chance to respond. Gwenna can be more explosive under the right conditions, but Azusa is far more resilient and consistent. Verdant rejuvenation is very fun, but it's also just a classic win-more card because you need to already have a high MV creature on board, and opponent can respond by removing your biggest creature to make it a lot worse. I play it in my big green decks for the fun factor too but I can see why CGB, who likes to be as competitive as possible, doesn't play it.

@@1ryb360 use some of the 15 fewer land cards to play protection. Don’t walk your commander into doom blade. Gwenna becomes a bigger threat the more big things you play. Even with a 5drop on the field, getting 5 permanents for 8 mana or even 3 in your hypothetical where the biggest thing dies, in a deck where several are creatures with 5+ power is value.

That Chandra game was similar to what i used to do with a Brash Taunter deck that took me to mythic. Essentially get an emancipation (or all 4 down), fight or shock my Taunter and that was game. I think my best was like 42k damage with one shot. Of course Ugin was the real mvp

I run 50+ lands in my Tatyova deck and that doesn’t even let you play extra lands like Azusa does, so if you’re running less than that for Azusa that’s definitely a problem haha

when you play an wb vamp aggro deck with 46 lands with an average mana value of 2 and still get mana starved it hurts.... i always say just one more land, it wont hurt, then i add one land and I HAVE OPENED THE FLOODGATES manaflooding to oblivion like 6 games in a row

That Jodah opponent having both Kira and Halana & Elena in their deck possibly losing the game because of it. If those counters hadn't been countered by Kira then the recastable Jodah would have been a single blocker for the trampler. Might not have mattered anyway but the need to mulit-block because Kira countered their own H&A hurt.
