Great content once again! Have to agree with the verdict on Knox, have been riding with a pair of the Knox orsa leathers for a few months now and they are great, the scaphoid protection is confidence inspiring, and I no longer have to worry about the Velcro losing its grip like my old alpine-star celers did after a year of riding thanks to the BOA system.

Thanks for going to all the trouble to share this info 👍🏻 I’ve been using the 1st Gen RST battery powered gloves for about 4-5 years now and never looked back. It’s interesting the resistance to heated gloves among ALL my biking buddies? They are a game changer in the same way as having BT headsets while riding with your mates. Theses just no going back.

I have tried for 3 days now to watch this in peace and quiet. I finally managed. :) Very informative (as always) and makes me quite tempted to invest in one or two of those highly rated autumn-spring gloves. I have the Alpinestars racing gloves for the summer and the Furygans for the winter but nothing for in-between that is also waterproof. I shall be hitting the shops to try and find some to try on. :)

I absolutely love my gerbing gloves, after 8 years of full winter use they still look amazing, I've rode when it was the beast from the east down a motorway and I couldn't use them above half way without heated grips at the time, this year I also had the inner jacket although only using it a few times because of lockdown again it was only on half way having a quick ride in the snow, personally if anyone is after winter gloves I would go the heated way anytime now, even just having nice hot hands it seems to warm your whole body and it definitely makes riding safer in cold conditions as obviously getting cold takes away some concentration, great video as always 👍🙂

Had a pair of Alpinestars gloves but the finger lengths were too short and too long on my little finger. I switched to Rev'it gloves and the fit is so good... i brought 3 different pairs of their gloves for summer and winter. My Rev'it gloves have goat skin material and feel flexible leather and good on the controls. They beat the textile material used to have on my Rukka gloves. The best part of Rukka gloves.... is their pass them on resale value ;)

One of the very important things that I always look out for in my gloves, are palm sliders. Surprisingly few gloves actually have these, yet when looking at evaluations of gloves after crashes it seems like 40-60% have damage on the palm, and very quickly grind through the leather there. A brand that I currently use, and was very impressed with, is Ixon. Its a smaller french manufacturer, but for the features it offers it is quite good value, and the quality I think is up to par with alpinestars. I got a set of mid range gloves on a whim as they were on sale, but was so impressed with them I got a high end set of gloves when the old ones wore out. Also a note about kangaroo leather, it is often used because it doesn't degrade with sweat! 'Regular' leather from for example cows degrades with sweat and use, which happens way faster on wear points. That is why more expensive gloves are either entirely kangaroo, or at the very least the palm.

Cheers! Hopefully as this consumer survey grows we'll have a much wider spread of data and should see Ixon. Cheers, John

I was going to say this. Palm sliders can prevent breaking your wrist. I was shocked to learn from a local shop that they sell less of these because riders don’t like the way the sliders feel in the glove. Crazy! Safety is paramount.

Also without a doubt the Furygan Blizzards are worth every penny, possibly the most comfortable gloves I've ever worn and fit and finish is really impressive........but that flipping cable is silly expensive and was really hard to get hold of. As these consumer awards grow we should get a larger pool of respondents and a more reliable and wider data set. Only 1% of the 1,011 people who filled in this survey used Five gloves, so the data was just too small to compare them to 14% - for instance - that were in Alpinestars. The cut-off was 3%, but as we get more people filling in the surveys in future, I'll be able to go to lower percentages as there's be a larger base. I couldn't include any further information outside of the survey as we've not tested any Five gloves. Cheers, John

I tried finding warm gloves during freezing winters and nothing kept my hands dry or warm. I got Oxford heated gloves and they're pretty good. If I was to upgrade I'd look at those armoured ones you reviewed. But honestly I think you could wear any relatively warm gloves (your favourites) during winter and just use overgloves for when it rains. I found Triumph Storm Guard and Dainese also do a waterproof one but more expensive.

I only wear Rev It gloves. I consider them mid to high price but high quality with small setbacks depending on the gloves. Could be stitching getting pulled, a cool concept just not working as designed, finger ergonomics being long or fat. It’s not huge deals. But stuff people can fuss over. Like my jackets (big chest, long torso, t-rex arms) my hands are wide but my fingers are short. So buying stuff isn’t easy for me and most brands don’t really cater to my odd sizing. So I am pretty brand loyal if I know something fits good enough. So my jackets are all Fly Racing, gloves all Rev It, helmets are HJC, boots are TCX. Anything that will build products for a 5’6” 285lb grizzly bear.

as a Canadian I have to always adjust my interpretation of what Brits say is a season... here we have road-work and winter. So we cannot have a "spring and summer" glove because we will be slowed down by road-work so we have a winter glove and the rest of the year glove.. and depending on your comfort levels one glove can do all two seasons.

Nice overview. I'm actually looking for a replacement for some Rukka Apollo gloves. They were great in the wet. Always kept me dry, but were damaged by the strong UV after 10,000 miles in South America. They weren't insulated so could be used year round in a downpour. i, too, was surprised not to see REV’ITs in the mix. Not blaming - i understand how you did the survey. Just my two cents but i LOVE my REV’IT Spitfire gloves. After four years one of the little fingers has now come apart at the seam and my attempts to fix it have failed but they feel great, no pain points, and very confidence inspiring. “On the other hand” I have a pair of REV’IT Taurus winter gloves and they are just ok. i couldn’t get the sizing right they never seem to be just the right temperature, etc. i think i need heated grips for winter. I don’t know how it is the UK but in the US the stores have a very poor selection of gloves and they are mostly cheaper gloves. i bought a pair of Alinestars summer shorts cuff gloves for about $129 and they’re horrible. they feel ok on my hands but as soon as i’m using them on the bike, the stitching is all wrong. So i guess i will just have to buy a bunch of different gloves over the Internet and return the ones that don’t fit. Thanks for the great review!

It's a lot easier to return things now, but I agree (and it's the thrust of the video) - gloves must be CE-approved and they must fit properly, so trying them on is vital really. Those Chevrons look similar to the much more expensive AlpineStars. I would want to check how well they stay on though as they don't appear to have a wrist strap. I like the Furygan D3O James gloves, but get yourself a shortlist then do try them all on, keeping in mind all the things to check. Let me know what you go for! Cheers, John

@bennettsbikesocial
@bennettsbikesocial 2 жыл бұрын
Possibly, though it could depend on the frequency of the pulses. • Did you sustain contact for long enough? • Was it a mains or battery-powered fence? • If battery was it 6V or 12V? • What type of shoes were you wearing - were you properly grounded? • Did flesh make full contact or was there hair offering resistance? • How hydrated were you at the time of teabagging? More testing required...

@@bennettsbikesocial I kept it on there for about a minute, mains power (240v), bare feet on wet grass, only the paper and a little of the string made contact and were as dry as they normally come from the packet... wait, hair? What are you, some sort of psycopath?!?!

@@jameshealy4594 Where's your mind at?! Hairs on your hands and fingers of course... perhaps you have exceptionally long finger hair that wraps around? Or something. Anyway, it's likely the fact the teabagging was done while dry that's the issue. Attempt your next dunk when it's moist and you should notice the effect. You might wish to apply some saliva, or ask someone else to help if you're feeling dehydrated and struggling to get the wetness desired

Unlike various others (e.g. Alpinestars, Five, Keis), Dainese doesn’t offer any CE Level 2 gloves. Also, many Dainese gloves get relatively poor results in MotoCAP tests.
