Because starting in 2008 with the GR STI, Subaru put in a small and very thin radiator. I have a 2013 STI and I saw how small first hand the radiator is. The 04-07 STI's have much thicker radiators. Since I track my STI regularly, I upgraded to a bigger radiator, in part because I saw this video LOL.

Yes, see 7:49, it says the car should rev to 9500rpm but they've limited it to 7500rpm in this occasion

@jjunfer that makes sense if the powerband discontinues at a certain point but it doesn't seem to. to me if your racing your pushing the car and yourself to the limits but hey i'm no tsuchiya so it must be workin lol

Was does "Over Heat" here mean? Was the car actually over heating?
@mmafan222312 жыл бұрын
Ara (5 door hatchback driver) did not launch as aggressively as Hatori (4 door sedan driver). Thus Ara immediately fell back to the pack. If you look at their best laps though, Ara actually had a slightly faster best lap, showing the potential of the 5 door vs 4 door. I was more disappointed at the overheating. I own a 2013 STI Sedan myself, and the radiator is pitifully small. I have a Koyo racing radiator waiting to go in... :-)

@wudi911 it keeps up because the track is very short, put them on a bigger track and it would change everything, but STI is still a very nice car !

well I mean stock. all the auto reviews said they were so disappointed with the 2007-2010 (before facelift) wrxs/stis. you could get a high revving spec c in japan.

Think we will see subs to this one day? Great upload.

STi is the true winner in this race! Considering it's bone stock ,manual and it can still keep up with M3, tune evo x and tune 370z!
@jjunfer13 жыл бұрын
@ITsIMP0RT4NT It's probably their actual car for racing, so to preserve it and keep it in safe zone, they limited revs to him
@ITsIMP0RT4NT13 жыл бұрын
why is he short shifting in the LFA, i thought it revved up to around 9K???
@wudi91112 жыл бұрын
from what i understand the only difference between jdm and usdm model this year is the engine. JDM: 2 litre twin scroll higher redline usdm:2.5 litre single scroll lower redline the power difference is barely noticeable. just from cobb ap($600) you can get more hp than jdm for usdm. for understeer you could get a thicker front sway bar. ($250 max).

I think it's been handicapped by VLN regulation to limit LFA's true potential. But Gazoo has to do it in order to compete in SP8 class.

If you didn't realize, the two Sti's were both proper 6spd manuals, meanwhile all the other cars used paddles. IF ANYTHING, all the race shows is that paddles are severely overrated, and that the feel and capability to manipulate the car as best possible per any given situation using a regular manual is significantly better. It's easy to see the lost power and braking performance due to lack of gear control on all the paddle-shift cars in the race. Vote Proposition Keep-Paddles-Off-Track !!

Sure is M3 has way more Power (even tought it´s "only" rwd) and the evo is tuned. Tune the STi to the same level, and it could keep up with the other contenders no problem ;)
