Michelle Yeoh vs Zhang Ziyi in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" - two scenes, first is hand-to-hand during the theft of the sword, later its a variety of weapons vs sword. I'll admit the hand-to-hand is more like dancing than fighting, but I could watch that on a loop until the day I die and not get tired of it, and it successfully shows the experience of the older fighter vs the energy of the younger. And imagine the hours of practice it took to gain the skill to carry off the weapons scence! Modern Hollywood can't do anything like that!

The final fight of Kill Zone: SPL between Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung is probably the best "emotional" martial arts action sequence ever. There's no dialogue between the 2 characters before they start. They just go at each other in a brutal and riveting climatic scene that makes you feel the hatred between them and all the emotional build-up of the film erupts on the screen. Not to mention the music really sells it too.

Bond and Red Grant on the train in Russia From With Love. The camera work is outstanding, so far ahead of its time and had a huge influence on many action films that came after it. Especially the The Bourne Identity, Supremacy and Ultimatum which contrary to opinion actually borrowed a lot from the early Bond films before the Daniel Craig films borrowed from them. It's claustrophobic, violent (especially for the early 60's) and leaves you at the edge of your seat.

Yuen Woo-Ping has to be up there as one of the absolute legends when it comes to movie fight scenes. The genius behind The Matrix, both Kill Bill films, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Drunken Master, Danny The Dog and of course Kung Fu Hustle. Kung Fu Hustle in particular I feel deserves props for its incredible fight scene with the three masters and the harpists, the latter which was a true feat of marrying Hong Kong choreography and big budget western technology (Stephen Chow wanted the film to be a American co-production namely to get access to Sony's state-of-the-art sound design for that sequence, and it shows).

The final "real" fight in Rashomon. I love how pathetic all 3 of the main characters are after all the lies, bravado and scheming in the 3 previous versions of the fight/murder. The most objective viewpoint is simultaneously the most tragic, the most chaotic and funniest; and by extension the most human scene in the whole film. Yet another fantastic physical Mifune performance in this scene. It's the kind of scene that makes me think, yes, this is really how humans fought and killed each other in history; or at least how it felt to fight and kill another man for most people.

The fight scene at the beginning of John Wick 3 with the swords, knives and axes. The Wick films always have an increasingly balletic form to the action, and it’s perfect. The burly brawl with Indy and the big guy in Raiders, it’s not easy for him. The opening parkour scene in Casino Royale is also great. The train fight in From Russia with Love is simple and wonderful, with a menacing opponent, definitely setting a precedent for many action scenes to come. Avengers: Infinity War, the Titan Battle: sure, there are a lot of Avengers and it’s full of CGI and it’s big-scope, but the directors do an excellent job of having the heroes work together, utilizing their powers to bring down Thanos. Empire Strikes Back, the final confrontation between Vader and Luke: the stakes are desperate, and the odds are stacked against Luke, but I love him standing up to the Dark Lord anyway.

Director John Woo is known for his well-choreographed action scenes, but this one is a bit too much for me. You can search YT to see it. A more well-known and better gunfight scene is of course in The Godfather where the mob boss baptizes his son while his henchmen carry out the bloody deed.
