Challenge are consistently the most comfortable tires I've ever used. These are tricky to mount first time but after a couple times it's not that bad. The Getaway Pro HTLRs are the fastest rolling gravel tires with tread.

Holy hell. I can install a Pirellis without tire levers and a basic track pump in about 2 minutes on a clean wheel. I look forward to your review on inserts which i plan to use to never ever stop to put a tube in unless I absolutely have too anywhere but home. It also looks like an insert would be very difficult to install with one of these tires.

that mounting procedure would drive me nuts :) Between the mounting and the cost, I would likely take a pass. The tread pattern does remind me of the Pirelli Cinturato M which I have as my go to mixed surface tire. Thanks for the info JOM.

There are several good videos available regarding mounting flat tire casings, most do not wrestle gravity like JOM’s technique and I have completely changed my mind about mounting Challenge tires after using their Getaways for a time. Check out all techniques and give it a try (don’t forget to use a lubricant on the rim when mounting the tires). It really is not difficult, this coming from a 70 yo guy with arthritic hands.

How's the air retention? I have the Getaway HTLR and the always go flat after 2 weeks of no use

I love the look of the Challenge tires with the yellow sidewall. I was shopping for new tires recently and the reputation of them being a bitch to mount kept me away from them. I think Vittoria has the same rep? That's really too bad... I just don't want the hassle. Why do some tire manufacturers make them like that?? PS - I like the leaves in the pool. More fiber!

Great video. However those are not the tyres for me too difficult AF to mount at home and definitely not in the field The only way to run them would be to mount them to a wheel set specifically for bad AF WEATHER Remember the video where it was pissing rain (Indiana I think 🤔) perfect tire for that Sorry for the rant😊

No need to apologize, you are spot on. Like you, I would reserve these tyres for a rainy day wheelset. BTW, the rear brake caliper of the Time ADHX 45 review bike was completely destroyed during that event. Mud ingress prevented the caliper from working the final 10 miles, no saving it.

Looks like the classic grifo cx tires now in wider size. Solid proven all around to sloppy tread pattern that many companies copied for decades. Hard to go wrong expect getting on/off. Good test in cx conditions.

Perhaps you can mail order it? See the part of the review about installing. This is not an easy tire / tyre to install.

Pool looks great…. Going to use the Gravine for some master’s cross races on mediocre surfaces…. Can’t wait to see how it does…. I run Dune, Chicane, and Strade B - mounting Challenge tires is a bitch…

100%. I did check with my contact at Reynolds before this Insanity. For the record, I broke one of these tyre levers attempting to install a Challenge Gravel Grinder tyre a while ago... suffice to say, I gave up on that installation.
