Clay, anyone who can accomplish what you did out in that hostile, unfriendly environment for 76 days all by yourself, deserves a lot of respect and admiration. While the description says "tool only" it does come with one each of a bi-metal kzbin.infoUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI and HCS blade plus an adaptor plate for non-DeWalt blades. Wish I had known that before I bought the blade kit, but oh well. Since I already have a DeWalt drill, charger and batteries there was no need to buy more of those so this was a great deal. There is one other consideration. DeWalt does't sell the depth guide separately so you need to buy the three parts which make it up -- the N275350 block assy, the N275341 metal rod and the N278801 knob. Amazon does sell all three.

Leatherman tools are terrific for what they provide. I personally like the Surge over the P4. It's capable of using T-shank jig saw blades without any modification and the blade is one of Leatherman's toughest blades. The Surge is a beast of a multitool and mine has been through hell and back. Thanks for you videos Clay. I've been a sub way before you going on Alone and it's really nice to see how unchanged you are afterwards. Congrats and again, thanks for the content.

I’ve got a collection of Leatherman tools (Bond, Rebar, Charge TTi, Signal, P2 which my wife has taken for herself, and the P4). The P4 is my daily carry, and agree with your review. The little ruler thing you asked about is kinda pointless as a ruler, but the notch at the heel is a wire stripper and there is a bit driver which you can purchase that fits over the flat head end. It’s a ratcheting driver which is awesome.

I went with the Leatherman Wave + because of the bit driver. I needed a 3/32" drill bit for making fishing lures out of wood, antler and bone. I can use the bit driver extender with hex shank drill bits or modify the drill bit to fit directly into the Leatherman bit driver. Of course if you are going on Alone they have special restrictions so this might not be allowed, Idk. I use the file extensively to shape my lures. I might replace my serrated blade with a bone saw. I've caught eight fish so far with my deer antler lures!

Old Leatherman had developed some issues and came upon a Gerber. Carried that Gerber from late 80s til few years ago (2013, 2014) when lost it. Big thing was it had tool type knew of max utility range AND it fit comfortably in my hand. Moreover, I wish could find another, nostalgia if nothing else.

Nice tool indeed but where I live I can’t carry any knife blade that can be opened with one hand . So I carry the Victorinox Swiss tool . One other reason is that I like the fact that I can access all the tools from the outside . The most useful tool on the Swiss tool… the two blades, the saw, the awl, and believe or not the file with a hack saw blade. When I move to Tennessee in two years I will definitely give the p4 a well deserved look. love all your videos on bow making, hunting.. etc keep up the good work and thank you for sharing what you have learned.

I prefer the Supertool 300 and the Rebar style for two reasons: 1. Tool position in hand. The Supertool lines up the "spine" of the tool to the handle meaning the tool is in line with your palm and it just seems better for me. 2. Safety. With the tool being on top you have the bottom handle as a stop against the tool if the locking mechanism fails. You don't have that with the other models outside the tools inside the handle.

That odd tool with the measurements on it was to be used for fishing without a pole straight down from the edge using a thicker material for the line. I know this as I have seen people use the tool fishing at lakes before with other tools using this. some even on boats using it to get the fish that are under the boat more easy, as a winter ice fishing pole is sometimes not short enough.

I know what you mean, I used a stone but a piece of granite rock with nearly flat edge for an emergency sharpener. I have also used other stone but they are not having the mini bumps in the flat edge due to the way Granite is, to get a better quicker sharp without needing a ton of passes in a flat rock. Quarts is the same way if you can find a flat edge on one, not smooth flat but a tad jagged.

This is why I like my Muti tool Leatherman Main one a Hodgon (Canadian designed I think) is that I can open it one hand with a bit of body for 50% of the opening. I have the tools on the inside ready as I can then if using a tool for a long time other then the small scissor, get my tools so they do not close back into me by closing the item up to prevent the tool I am using from closing back in on itself. I am one that has had the tools close inward on me and I end up cutting myself with outer tool models like my dads actual Leatherman brand model with outer tools. Also mine has a set of screw tips in a small pouch on back for use In fixing something quick when I do not have a screw driver or drill with bits. Now for some reason the Leatherman like tool has a metric measuring tool on the outside making me think my model is the Canadian designed version. If I could find my model, I would get the thing for my brother, I might try again here soon for this for Christmas to find it or a very similar model. The tool is nice and I love using it despite the minor pain when using the pliers due to some sharp edges that could have been fixed on the model design by making the part that holds the tools in with a wider steel frame that had ergonomic edges to them like another I have. The other I have an Ozark Trail one is odd with tools on the outside that do not lock in place well when closed due to being a cheap Walmart tool but lock overly well in place when using. I hate the Steel used as it is not durable unlike the other model it gets these odd rolls on the edges that are not the blade edge but non sharped edge. The pliers on the Ozark Trail model suck as they are spring style that I hate and had to remove the spring due to rust issues. lastly a number of the tools are odd things that do not work at all unless they are used as flat tip screwdrivers and one or two that are tools with these dull blades that do not work at all.

I do not like using the blade on the Wave because the edges of the handle in that position is sharp. Other than that it is an amazing tool that saves me on camping and road trips. Recently I needed to strip some wires of the trailer light/brake cable for the trailer I was pulling, and I needed the pliers to pull fuses for the ones that shorted out in my truck fuse box that shorted out as a result of a faulty cable. Back on the road in 30 minutes in a remote part of British Columbia. Special thanks to Mike and Don for their advice.
