In Mexico there is a tradition known as “The Dance of the Pascolas and the Deer”, a ritual of pre-Hispanic origin of the indigenous Yaquis and Mayos, who inhabit the states of Sonora and Sinaloa.
The Dance of the Pascolas and the Deer is a ritual that has been practiced for over 300 years as a call for rain to the gods, and is studied by specialists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), who are currently working on the creation of a file in order to include this practice on the Tentative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
José Luis Moctezuma, an anthropologist working at the INAH Center in Sonora, explained via communiqué that, according to the vision of the indigenous communities, the pascolas (the elders of the party) were malignant beings, children of the devil. However, God won them in a game. The deer, on the other hand, represents good.

These dances r done all over México, this is a popular dance with young ppl to this day! the dances are so similar to the Natives of South West, who were Mexican, and the music and Native language! Mexicans r 50 percent or more Native, they are closer to their Native roots, but USA always paints us as European! We were perfectly fine being and looking full Native, we didn't invite the horror! USA ppl r very misinformed about Native ppl, and ur world is very small about Native ppl, and no, contrary to the culture vulture social media campaign, we r NOT African, and Afros ain't Native! Thank goodness for México and South America, they are the truth keepers! Mexicans r Native to the core in their hearts and spirit! Always have been, always will be!

Me siento orgullosa de las danzas de mi tierra, son hermosas a mi en lo personal cada que escuchó algún son de venado o pascola se me eriza la piel me emociona, faltaron los músicos (violines y arpa) de los pascolas para bailar sus demás sones.

Maybe because most people, and ESPECIALLY gringos believe Native Americans only exist in the USA and Canada lol when really, they exist all over the Americas

It's the failure of education by all countries. The word American & Americano have been hijacked by Americanistas. I know several 1st nations have now accepted "native american" as their official description. I still use the terms "first nation & indigenous".

White people like to imagine Mexicans and indigenous Mexicans aren’t native to the land so they can argue against the people who cross the boarders that split our land :)

Ok, the deer dance doesn't seem so hard to try, all I need to do is to get a deer head hat and a pair of maracas to make it official. 🤨

Esta es la "danza del venado" autentica, es la original de los indígenas Yoreme de Sonora, México... tal vez la estés comparando con la adaptación estilizada del ballet de Amalia Hernández.
