I have been with NFCU since April. Opened a checking, savings, and money market account. Was prequalified for all the cards. I decided to apply for the cashREWARDS Visa Signature and was approved for $11,000! My highest card is my Capital One Platinum MC which is $1k. Also they pre approved me for a $17k car loan @8.99%. Navy Fed has always showed me love and great customer service.
@PatrickDKing Жыл бұрын
A few years back I got a car loan at 7.99% which is high (so is 8.99%) but it allowed me to get the car that I needed. Over the next year, year and a half I cleaned and tweaked my credit, got the scores up and refinanced that loan at 2.85% at a local credit union. I'd recommend as you get a higher credit score and more payment history consider refinancing your car loan. It's not expensive like refinancing a mortgage. In my state I had to pay $50-$75 to do something with the car's title, there were no other refinancing or loan fees. Reduced my loan payment by a lot and saved a lot of interest.
@aaront936 Жыл бұрын
8.99% is showing you love?
@nimravus01 Жыл бұрын
@Aaron Taylor Right now, interest rates on car loans are very high compared to a few years ago. 8.99% is not crazy by today's market standards. Sure, it's not the absolute lowest out there, but going by the limited info the OP gave, it sounds like they have a pretty thin credit profile. That's where NFCU shines: giving reasonable terms and limits to people who would otherwise be outright denied or given very unfavorable terms on loans. TBH, my last car loan, (thankfully pre-pandemic) was with Capital One, because they beat NFCU for me. As the saying goes: "your mileage may vary."

@a3sully Жыл бұрын
@@khatcher8699 I would send them message and see if they can review your account. They should be reviewing your account as well as credit profile every month after 6 months. They might not like something on your current credit profile such as high credit utilization, accounts in collections or late payments. If you have any of those, might need to focus on paying down debt or waiting a little bit with several on time payments before they graduate you. Or you have been overlooked for some odd reason and it's time for them to graduate. If they don't graduate you, they should state why. I wouldn't try for another card with them yet, because if you get denied, then you got an inquiry for nothing and might get approved for another secured card. Once they graduate you, that most likely means they would approve you for another unsecured card. It helps to use their products. I did shares pledge loans, direct deposit, and certificates while my card was still secured and that probably helped. They are big on relationships with them. I just got another increase a few days ago, am up to 30k.

Yeah but thats how this country grows and the rest of the world is stagnant and wont advance in that regard; because everybody is afraid of credit cards for lack of financial education. Nobody teach you anything about banking, credit card culture, or financials abroad. I’m a foreigner, I know whst I’m talking about. My parents back home use credit cards like weapons out of the armory! My mom still thinks if the bank gives her 20 million pesos ($5,000 US dollars) credit card credit line she can literally expend that amount every month. They live in perpetual bankruptcy covering one credit card with the next one, and that one in turn with the next one, in a continuous crazy expenditure loop like there is no tomorrow. They never save money for anything because there is nothing left to save. They always expend the total 100% of the credit line like if thats the normal thing to do! Financial testing ground for nuts! 🤯 Believe me, here in the US there is financial culture everywhere; people has financial culture; since teenagers kids start saving in ETFs, Bonds, and building their Portfolios, and thats sets this country apart from the rest of the world and that is in part the reason why this country’s economy is the most powerful on Earth.
