the primary is switched on the low side by the mosfet, this will produce positive inductive spikes. those could kill the mosfet. better capture that energy in a cap for reuse.

Nope that wont work well, paralleling a cap and the primary will create a resonant tank circuit, its better to use a flyback diode

I just finished wiring and testing this driver, and it works perfectly. I am, however, not getting the kind of performance that was demonstrated in the video. My arcs, at max power, jump at right around 8mm. I need at least a 13mm arc to properly test a prototype. I suspect my transformer is to blame, but any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the excellent tutorial.

Same pinch, my flyback_eth_crt transfomer jumps the plasma_arc between its own pin when i apply more voltage, what a creek. Now i am thinking to make custom secondary winding for that.
@paramitadas7545 Жыл бұрын
You are using a bench-power supply here, which is limiting you're current flow. So if you use a battery, instead of power supply, as there will be no more current limitation the arcs whic are thin and blue in color currently, will be thick and white hot. Hence it will give better arcs. But the length of the arc will not get affected as it depends on the voltage. Now I might be wrong about this whole thing, but I think I am not wrong. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

@@apo_chromatic 1 MV is enough to cover 1m distance and even more. Depends on how you build up the spark, if you ionize the air first, the break down voltage drops to 2-10kV/cm. Ever hear of a video description?? ;D
@firstnamehidden65143 жыл бұрын
Yes, video descriptions are slow in conveying construction information and do not give the builder the knowledge of exactly what he is trying to build at at first glance. Like drawing pictures to communicate when you don't know the common spoken language. The results include unnecessary temporal depletion, aka time wasted. So you appear to be an advocate for wasting people's time for personal gain, or a far worse crime in electronic engineering. Not being able to work with a circuit diagram.
