Avianca Lifemiles can actually be pretty dang valuable for Star Alliance flights- and of course I personally have some predisposition to liking them since I love Colombia. 10% Miles back on Star Alliance Flights + 25% redemption boost on Avianca Flights is unique & intriguing. Great video & you got me thinking about this Card now!

Good pick up! I was debating getting the same card. Avianca has the best price for most star alliance partners, but be prepared for the headache of using the websites 😂

Yeah I’ve used it before and it’s frustrating but remember I need 3 biz class tickets x2 for each trip. So the headache can be worth it.

I both fly on Avianca (Central and South America) and use Avianca miles. They are often better for booking on United than using Air Canada or Turkish miles.

Discounts on flight redemptions is a cool feature that I hope to see on more cards in the future. Do you know if it’s a rebate (like you get the miles back after you book) or you require fewer miles from the booking?

Thanks for the review Luke! Like you stated not for everyone, I had bad experiences with them and would probably avoid them in the future, mainly over hidden fees and how they tend to charge you for everything (they are a low budget airline so its expected) but I think my thoughts are biased based on my own experience with them. I'm sure other people are more savy and are able to find some sweet spots....

I can understand. I actually doubt I will ever fly on actual avianca metal but the 10% rebate helps. A round trip for me to Europe can be 6 tickets so that could be really valuable

I would get both Avianca cards and use the LifeMiles to go to San Andres Island Colombia which is an 8 hour trip from MIA or FLL.

This is still like the ONLY review on this card! Would be great to see an update. I calculate the break even for the “basic” tier subscription at roughly 150k lifemiles redeemed which isn’t great, plus there’s some questions on whether the lifemiles agents will actually be able to honor the waived cancellation fees which is the biggest thing I want since I book way in advance. If the card has enough value without counting the free lite subscription that could push this over the edge

@@WhatsThePoints1 I think it comes down to redemptions. I redeems over 300k lifemiles my first month. The rebate on that is considerable. And I think the earning double miles on the first x amount of spend per month makes it 4x on dining. Not bad each month

Congrats on the new card. I picked up the Alaska personal card last week. Funny thing is, Alaska doesn't fly in and out of my home airport of CLT. I got it for what can be done with points booking partners.

I haven’t covered it because I don’t think it’s worth talking about. If you’re someone who is a robinhood customer and already pays those fees then I think it’s fine for now. It won’t be 3% cash back for long.

Thanks for this review, I'm seriously looking at Avianca's CC as American Express is widely accepted in Brasil and I'm thinking of canceling both my Delta Gold and Hilton Suprass but I want to have at least one AMEX card useful abroad unlike many of them which limits the number miles ( 4 USA vs 1 other countries) and can't use the credits abroad. I already fly Avianca from Brazil to The USA so getting Star Alliance Gold status shouldn't be that difficult.

So I purchased 30k points at under around $325. I don’t really Need them but at 1 cent per $ I can’t pass it up. They wouldn’t let me buy more than the amount accumulated though. lol.

Reddit you will find a massive list of complains and some people saying tje experience was normal lolo not even one person said they love it lolol But just for points to use on partners seems good
