Thanks for this review, I'm seriously looking at Avianca's CC as American Express is widely accepted in Brasil and I'm thinking of canceling both my Delta Gold and Hilton Suprass but I want to have at least one AMEX card useful abroad unlike many of them which limits the number miles ( 4 USA vs 1 other countries) and can't use the credits abroad. I already fly Avianca from Brazil to The USA so getting Star Alliance Gold status shouldn't be that difficult.

I think you can speculatively transfer points if you have a lot of potential travel in the next year or two and are willing to use the points that you speculatively transferred with flexibility. For me, it is all about the flexibility, number of potential trips, and the airline. Since I have a 6 year old that is in school most of the year, unfortunately, I don;t have the flexibility I once did. Having said this, I did manage to snag 2 business class tickets on Air France for 55K miles next January to celebrate my 10th anniversary. Usually, I can't go during January but I got some help this time around for the big celebration!

Back in 2022 there was a 40% Transfer Bonus from AMEX MR-points to Avio that I decided to go ahead as I hope can fly Qatar QSuite even though not sure when. It took me more than a year to finally got what I wanted so cost me (75K x 2) each way and overall 300K but for sure worthwhile! Most importantly, since then I don’t believe seeing the same 40% Transfer Bonus. My conclusion: If the Transfer Bonus is good enough then I will go ahead and keep the fingers crossed! Edited: I am talking about AMEX MR that I have the most. I might do the same to my Chase UR-points but NOT to my limited Citi ThankYou Point and Capital One Miles that I plan to use these more carefully!

I will say I have a delta Amex platinum card and I do get often upgraded on flights , however , I never get upgraded with Marriott only late check out with Gold Status . However , having no loyalty to Hyatt , they have already let me check in at 12 am once , and once semi upgraded me to a higher floor. Between the Amex platinum and chase I’m liking chase better between the two . Airline wise American has been cheaper and easier to get money from them with volunteering, but delta has been the best experience overall . Hyatt has been the best hotel wise for me chain wise and that’s sad because I have 20 Marriott nights already this year . Great video
