I have that Lowpro bag, but at the same time it looks a lot like my daily use bag which is a 5.11 Rush 24. I've been mistaken for being a reservist with that bag. I like Molle webbing, it came in very useful when I became a dad and it turned into a diaper bag with easy quick access to essentials.

I have a camera bag and a 30l Berghaus. Ideally I want an all in one for camera and drones. FPV just added more gear for me to carry. Maybe 2 bag solution is better…

Not sure about the usefulness of treating a kickstarter project as if the bag was available. Also not sure of the efficacy of an 18L bag that is $229. That is definitely an overkill price for this bag.

I should note it's 18L+ You could easily stuff the roll top to a 20L equivalent which then makes the bag comparable to the peak Design Everyday. In which case the value is directly comparable.

Decided to grab the early bird deal on Kickstarter, which closed this morning 🤗 Thanks for all the helpful info here. The nice thing about this campaign is they already completed their first production run, so the first batch is ready to ship. Compare this to Nomatic's recent campaign for their McKinnon 25L bag, which ran 8 months late (although I will say, that bag was worth the wait - it's fantastic). Really looking forward to the Kiboko City Commuter as a (slightly) smaller, versatile daily carry!

Curious how does the Kiboko compare to the Shimoda for shoulder strap fit and carrying comfort? I currently own a Shimoda 35L and love it, however looking for something smaller for day trips and casual portrait sessions. Also how easy is side access for something like a Canon R5/R6 with a 24-70 attached? Thanks

I actually had this same question! I’m coming from not having a camera bag at all. It’s come down to Gura Gear’s Kiboko or one of Shimoda’s options. What would you say would be a better first camera bag for the starting photographer?

Great question. I'm not sure if you can tell, but I opted to replace the default shoulder straps on my shimoda for the "Woman's Simple" strap. I was finding the default Shimoda straps too bulky and I was not a fan of having pockets on the shoulder strap. I prefer the shoulder strap design of the Gura Gear; however the shimoda straps can be adjusted vertically to get a better fit if you're taller or shorter. No problems removing my R5 with 24-70 as long as you don't over-stuff the zippered pouches on the back panel. However, on the Shimoda the side panel access is a bit more fussy because of how their cubes are laid out. So much so Ive opted to not use the side access on my Shimoda.

If you can get the City Commuter for the Kickstarter pricing it will be better value IMO. Keep in mind with the shimoda you have to buy the insert cubes which are an additional cost. The Gura Gear is better for the all-around photographer, the Shimoda is better if you're outdoors a lot because it's designed with features that make it ideal for hiking. I plan to cover more on the Shimoda in an upcoming video. Waiting on another bag to arrive so I can do a 3-way comparison

I have serveral Shimoda bags, Explore, Action X and Explore V2 25L. I also have a kiboko 30L. Shimoda is a more comfortable bag to carry long distance as that’s what they are built for. Gura Gears legacy is wildlife photography from a jeep with big lenses. That said, Borg are great bags.

I'm really disappointed that they didn't use water resistant zippers. Why bother using waterproof fabric if the zippers let water in?

I got the Wandrd Prvke today, and now I'm back to KZbin looking at reviews again because this has to go back. Why? Because I used it in the rain today and the inside got damp and horrible. You'd think the tarpaulin outside and water resistant zips would do something but evidently not. So, I think a lot of bag companies are using cheaper materials and foregoing "water resistant" zips because they're just not effective enough and shouldn't be relied on, and instead include a rain cover for reliable water resistance. As it happens Wandrd no longer includes the rain fly, so that is it, I am never buying a Wandrd product ever again. A camera bag this expensive should include the rain cover if the materials aren't actually going to work. Aside from that it's also really fucking uncomfortable.

Gura Gear are not new to the camera backpack market. They’ve been building backpacks for almost 15 years. Just searches for their Bataflee bag.
