Thank you for the honest review. This was the only review I found which gave the actual run time of the 2 high lumen modes. Pick one up for edc.

Great Job. Appreciate your explanation on how the proximity sensor works and it needs to be reset for it to work again. Didn't hear that from Nitecore official channel or the usual Nitecore appointed reviewers. Love how meticulously u have done your Review. I have subscribed. Cheers.

This flashlight is great. I purchased one when they first came out. The battery not being able to be removed is not a big deal to me. This flashlight is not intended for heavy duty use like caving, hiking, and camping. It was meant for a EDC light. Our smartphones and computers have built in batteries that are difficult to remove and people seen ok with that.

It doesn't bother me, but some people get annoyed by it. I haven't had many rechargeable batteries die, so the odds of having issues are low.

@@graydogllc Yeah this flashlight is not going to be for everyone. I love it though. I may purchase another one for my vehicle.

@@brandonmckittrick2822 they are doing a bigger one, the EDC 35, if you want more output and runtime with a similar user interface.

@@graydogllc u might wanna check out the Nitecore EDC35. Longer throw n better runtime. Just had mine recently n by far 1 of the best from Nitecore.

I've had the light for a week now, search and Lumin Shield works great, switching it on/off is not an issue at all. However what really bothers me is the lack of flood in moonlight mode, the beam is weak but still way to focused, hardly useable for many EDC appliances. I dont understand why Nitecore puts in that new 9x led yet doesn't make much use of the 8 flood leds, weird.

There are things I really like about it, but it definitely isn't perfect. Most lights kind of suck in the lowest modes.

The prox sensor is meant to operate that way. So if u want big lumens up close . You have the option

Like to point out that I encountered the same issue as u when trying to turn on the EDC33 as a normal flashlight. I discovered the trick is to quickly pull back your thumb after pressing it fully and strongly into the button. The full press button contact time has to be very short for the firmware to interpret it as a command to turn on to the last used brightness as a normal flashlight. If this full press contact is slightly longer in time duration, it appears to me that the firmware interprets it as not a command to turn on the normal flashlight mode. This full press contact has to be even longer for it to be interpreted as a command to activate Luminshield. I believe a tweak in the firmware timing will resolve this issue. There is hope to see this issue resolved in later production batches. Nitecore is very responsive to user feedback like they have done with the rattling button in the first batch of EDC27. That issue was resolved in about 2 months when I received their newer batch.

I ran into the same finicky issue with the tail switch, sometimes getting the wrong mode. It seems as though you've got to line up the push exactly in line with the body. That's my only issue with it, since the battery seems to be pretty darn robust for the lumen output... Nice review, just subbed! 🔦⚡🔦

I bought that flashlight and it fits my needs on edc and self defense. I found that if you use thumb then there is no issue with tail switch. If use index finger then suffer same issue of occasionally flashed by momentary modes . So do not use index finger, also easier to unlock

I have had one of these since the release. The permanent battery does not bother me one bit. The UI is a bother and it takes some getting used to. This for me is an excellent EDC light. Its not the light I will grab to go hunting, or field use of any kind. But grabbing it to check something out in the back yard or walk the dog, its great. This was a good solid review. I just subbed.

Agree with u on the finicky button when trying to turn on the normal flashlight mode. Like u, no issue turning on Search and Luminshield mode. The firmware needs tweaking to resolve this issue. NITECORE, I HOPE YOU ARE LISTENING. Thank u, I believe Nitecore will resolve this ASAP as they have done with the rattling button on the first batch of EDC27.

Having a non-replaceable battery is just stupid - less flexibility and more e-waste. Was going to buy, but not anymore. Thanks for the heads up! (It will be illegal in the EU from 2027 when user replaceable batteries in electronics are mandatory, so hopefully they will reconsider strategy in the future.)
@graydogllc Жыл бұрын
A lot of things are going to change over when that regulation hits. In some ways it will be good and in some ways I don't know what it will do to innovation, but when it comes to flashlights I am definitely a fan.

@@nickmartin8495 Yes, all electronic devices sold in the EU must have user replaceable batteries by 2027. It must be replaceable with standard tools, standard screwdrivers for example, but glue etc. is not allowed.
