Another factor was producer David Dortort's attention being drawn away by a new show, The High Chaparral, which he also produced. Dortort largely left the running of Bonanza to subordinates so that he could concentrate on THS, and Bonanza definitely suffered as a result, although it was still pretty good--just not AS good as it had been. And THS was also an excellent show.

Auch wenn die Serie 14 Jahre noch so erfolgreich und beliebt war, vergessen wird leider immer wieder das hinter den Kulissen bei Bonanza, den ganzen Tag gesoffen und geraucht wurde um den Stress dort zu ertragen. Das macht ja immerhin auch was mit dem Körper und den Darstellern.

Roberts is hands down the worst actor, no emotion, clearly didn't fit in n reason they dumped him. his character seem to get weird storylines that they stopped after he was written out. so much better after he left. glad they fixed it so we have hundreds episode without him but with the real cast. thanks
