Jimmy Johnston was a very good player, however, not in the same league as Sir Stanley Matthews.

Jimmy Johnstone should have been on the right wing ahead of Mathews, it was obvious the English guys were gonna vote for Mathews though. Could see it a mile away.

Jimmy Johnstone before Matthews all day every day. Alan Ball's comment about him not being an intelligent player is so untrue. He is looking at his games as a Scotland player, but everyone needs to remember that Johnstone wasn't liked by the Scotland fans like most Celtic players playing for Scotland at that time. That made things difficult for Jimmy when your own support was not behind you. With Celtic though he was the BEST EVER.
