Very good information! It is such a common problem, keeping the chroma pure and vibrant whilst lowering the value. Thank you, Paul!❤

Chroma is difficult to calm down. Without making things washed out. So Paul show us how to deal with red amaryllis. So working off photograph shows ridiculous chroma. I’m working on this now. But knowing recipe of color examples would be helpful.

I’m curious about the claim that quinacridones are being discontinued. I’m aware that certain Quinacridone pigments have been discontinued, but all of them?
@BillInmanArt2 күн бұрын
Excellent instruction, Paul, terrible news, Eric. The quinacridones are a staple for me. Alizarin permanent is not a good alternative for quinacridone - it's too blue and makes 'dirty' lavenders. Rose madder genuine by Winsor Newton is a great alternative color wise, but it is not as lightfast as quinacridone rose or red (although Winsor Newton claims it's permanent). It's also a lot more expensive than the quins. It's tough to find crimson reds that are lightfast.
