Great info, I like to use the word ‘Saturated’ when I’m thinking of color (rather than intense). I think it describes the strength and amount of pigment in the tube.

Good, yes, but I also use the word "saturated" when I drink too much!! LOL ;D

Thanks to both of you for sharing this. It coincided nicely with my studies recently of the characteristics of color and pigments. I learned a lot! I am using water soluble oils at the moment ant may have to switch to traditional oils. .

Would be a good move. I used them ( Max from W&N) in travels abroad (Europe) but found them weak-ish as to vibrancy and "richness"! Better to use artist grade oils, like Utrecht, from Joe here, or any other good brand! Good luck. : )

Thank you for mentioning the step child of the art world, acrylic. I was also wondering about how this would apply to acrylic and three types of paint were mentioned but not acrylic. So thank youfiransweringthat question.

Very good, Eric and Joe, one of your best. I loved Utrecht paints when I lived in Sacramento, they had a walk-in store then, and that's all I used when I started plein air landscapes, mid-90's. Then it closed or something and I searched around for paint now using mostly Gamblin, from online, or at my local art store in Tucson. If you have a local art store, please use them folks!! Many good colors in both lines, American made, and plenty available for my limited palette of primaries and secondaries (with only one earth color-Indian Red) and white. So, I can mix Any color I can see!! My cad red is still a big tube of Utrecht but end up using little of it, unless there is a fire truck in the scene, LOL, but main red is Indian red (which I also call a secondary violet when mixed with my blue, it then becomes like the nice muted "plumb" pigment that Joe showed), and which I also use with Ultramarine to make "blacks", as Joe showed us with the mix of burnt sienna and the Ultra!! Very easy to get "harmony" with these few (6) colors, and white, folks, and it's coincidentally also a palette recommended by the great American impressionist painter Edgar Payne, in his book on landscape painting composition!! Highly recommended reading, BTW. : )

Your faces at the beginning always make me laugh out loud, haha! Good video. Liquitex and Blicks both do videos on color and I find them fascinating. I am definitely a color person. I love color and love experimenting with it! I sent you five paintings for your Friday critique videos. If you've seen them, you know what I'm talking about. Love, love love color :) Thanks for another great video!
