I read somewhere that there's some great symbolism associated with Bucky's arm and by extension Bucky's personality. In the beginning, he keeps it hidden from the general public for the most part and uses it to hurt or kill people, or in the case of his personality, he struggles with knowing what he did and his continued Avenger work is his way of letting it all out. Starting with the scenes with him and Sam fixing the boat however, he shows his arm and his powers off just to help, and he even lets those kids use his arm like a pull up bar while he's chatting up Sam's sister in a kind of like "oh these kids? Yeah that's nothing, I once almost ripped Iron Man's arc reactor out of his suit." I like to think they were trying to portray that symbolically honestly cause it fits with Bucky's arc in the show

There's also a little scene after Bucky acted as the winter soldier, on their way back in the plan, he was cleaning his metal hand with a napkin. It showed how much he didn't like hurting people, thought it was dirty and wanted to make it clean. All the little details in this show are really just awesome.

Super late comment, but I thought that it was also a nice parallel to those same kids playing with the Shield earlier in the show. That scene was put there to show that despite Walker's actions, the Shield hadn't lost its meaning and Steve's legacy was still in tact. Them hanging off of Bucky's arm like that could be seen in the same vein. The Winter Soldier did terrible things, but that doesn't have to mean that Bucky Barnes must be as well.

the mcu takes part around 2023/24 and bucky was born 1917. that means that he is about 106/107 years old or better said 101 if you dont count the snap years

I feel like Bucky just views the dusting in a similar vein to cryo. He didn't age during that either and lost time with it too, so that's just five more years stolen from him that still remove him from the year he was born. And at a certain point it's probably just easier to track based on his birth year than to do math... The aging thing also matters more with characters who age at a normal pace. The MCU super soldier serums, on the other hand, definitely seem to have an enhanced lifespan attached. Or at least the Erskine one does. IE, Old Man Steve was over 110 years old at the end of Endgame. (Steve would have turned 27 in 1945. Plus 12 years for October 2011 to October 2023. Plus 74 years from 1949 to 2023. He was physically at least 112.) Physically Bucky is about 40, maybe late 30s, though it's a little harder to track with him because he was only aging for days or weeks at a time for decades and then was released from cryo for years after being freed. It does seem like they're trying to keep him physically at pace with Sebastian Stan's age though. (He was 28 in 1945 and wasn't actually frozen for the first time until 1950, when he would have been 33. Plus ~3 years for January 2014 to May 2018 with a bit of cryo in Wakanda in the middle. Then dusted for 5 years. Plus 1 year for 2023 to 2024. So his minimum physical age is about 37.) Also... Bucky lost track of his own age, because FATWS takes place after his 107th birthday. And now that I've rambled - sorry about that - I feel like I've lost my own train of thought and I'm just going to leave this comment. 🤣
