What a great waltz compilation you play for us for our delight and joy. Thank you so much, dear Andy! Yes, I do agree, he is underrated because Ziehrer was such an exceptionally gifted composer who stood under the shadows of other musicians- unfortunately. I do love the richness of his melodies which have such an outstanding and incomparable beauty. His operettas are real gems, his marches fabulous and his waltzes belong to the best ones I can imagine. I was happy when I read your statement that you would have visited him in Vienna at once if you had lived in the last century just to thank him for his fascinating work. We can be glad that this cd series is available (at the moment 21 issues) with many unknown pieces. Let's hope that he will also get more recognition at the New Year Concerts. He would deserve it. His talent was just divine. And you? You play this compilation extraordinary beautiful. For a long time I thought you are Austrian without knowing that you are from Switzerland. That can only happen because you play with an Austrian heart and an Austrian soul. Yes, I listen to your piano playing, close my eyes and do know: You are Austrian! Thank you so much, my friend. Danke auch ganz herzlich für Deine Kommentare, sie haben mich sehr gefreut! Ganz arg sogar. Grüezi und servus! Herzlichst- Teddy

I have been visiting your YT page within the last few years to listen to Ziehrer's walzes. Within this week, I came back and this piano compilation turned out to be a pleasant surprise. What I like about this arrangement is that, instead of having to haul through individual orchestral pieces, I can listen to Ziehrer's waltzes as if I were viewing thumbnails of artwork. Furthermore, because of the faster tempo of this piano compilation, Ziehrer's waltzes feel even more playful. :) I kind of feel sad about the way Ziehrer faded into history. Although he has been overshadowed by his arch rival, Johann Strauss, Ziehrer's walzes are in no way inferior, after listening to his waltzes for some time. (Off-topic: my most favorite waltz from J. Strauss is 'Wiener Blut'.) Danke schön ...und ... fantastisch! :)

Beautiful compilation, Andreas. I notice some of the music lovers below are unacquainted with the music of the King of the Waltz, as I call C.M. Ziehrer. This gives him a name that separates him from the Waltz King, who everybody knows is Johann StraussII. The English speaking portion of the planet has too long neglected Vienna's participant in perhaps the most important world's fair when it comes to the music world: The Chicago Columbian Exposition of !893, where Carl Michael Ziehrer brought his orchestra, as did John Philip Sousa, and another special visitor from Europe who would have an enormous impact in the history of American music; Antonin Dvorak. For the first time in the history of the world, the music of the world was represented in one place, and that place hosted 27 million visitors, or one out of every four Americans, the highest percentage of any of the world fairs ever hosted in the United States. Before Dvorak left, he made sure there were music academies that accepted both women and African-American musicians; musicians like Scott Joplin...I get flack when I say that I consider Scott Joplin the most important of all the musical composers in U.S. history but Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Joplin's closest possible competition, spent much of his life in self-induced exile in South America. So Joplin rightly gets credit as the main popularizer of syncopated music...all modern popular musical forms use syncopation...the young George Gershwin wrote rags, and to a lesser degree, even Irving Berlin paid his homage with the two pieces involving "Alexander and His Ragtime Band". Once again, I thank you MAESTRO!
