Its heavily implied (or maybe even said?? don’t remember) that Natsuki’s dad doesn’t feed her, and that she’s malnourished. So that scene with Natsuki giving Sayori her cookie is actually really really important, not just dumb filler. She barely eats, but still gives a cookie to Sayori to make her happy. Edit: I decided to look into it and I found a point in the game where Monika says “Natsuki’s dad doesn’t give her lunch money or leave her any food in the house, so she’s in a fussy mood pretty often... But sometimes she just loses all of her strength and shuts down. Like earlier. This is just a guess, but I think she’s so small because her malnutrition is interfering with her adolescent growth...”

Ok look, I’m just gonna say it: I liked Natsuki’s poems more than I liked Yuri’s. Like don’t get me wrong, Yuri’s poems were very eloquent and sophisticated and I’m not gonna pretend like the running gag with “Eagles can Fly” wasn’t hilarious. But while most of Yuri’s poems could’ve just as easily been formatted as short stories and it wouldn’t have made much of a difference, Natsuki’s were very stylistic and really took advantage of the medium. I also really liked Natsuki’s philosophy on how “deep and complex” doesn’t necessarily equate to “good” and how simple stories with simple themes, when executed in a clever and creative way, can hold just as much artistic integrity.

yuri's poems (and just her in general) came across as pretentious and it seems like she spent more time looking in a thesaurus rather than building a story. natsuki's simplistic style conveying the feeling of hopelessness gave her poems more emotion than yuri's. any writer knows that what you don't say matters just as much as what you do.

So fun fact; this game helped me get over a massive depression phase, you might even go as far as to say it kept me from taking the Sayori way out. I was depressed and decided I'd see what cutsie dating sims I could find, and of course being all messed up in the head I failed to read the tags on the store page and downloaded the game. As soon as things got weird I figured it was my PC, but kept playing up until the Sayori scene and of course noticed the background. Long story short, I got caught up in the meta stuff of the game and the story and just simply forgot about what was bringing me down! I also nearly browned my jorts when I saw all those scares due to me not typically enjoying horror games.
