They will not return. Dom(merry) answered on his instagram to the question Will the friendship onion return? in which he stated: ("No they stole our money. No one works for free"). And he is right in that sense. new things could come to fruition but the friendship onion is apparently dead. Merry and pippin don't have the rights of the podcast, and it's a shame, I just "discovered" The friendship Onion this month, and I love lotr, I was having a blast to know even a bit more of each of the characters on the movie and their experiences and not only that but things like league of legends or what food taste better are amusing as well. Like christopher lee using a pen as if it was a knife, I could spend days just listening because they're really interesting people that are different from each other. And the journey they have been through making one of the best trilogies in the world and basically revitalizing the whole fantasy niche is pretty amazing. I feel bad watching the friendship onion because I know none of it will go to who truly deserves. To all those wondering where they have been. I believe they’ve been traveling the world this past year recording a new television series called “Billy & Dom Eat the World”, which by the looks of it is set to release this year! UPDATE: After more digging on the internet, it looks like the Friendship Onion Podcast won’t be making a return due to a financial scandal with the podcasts parent company, Kast Media. It had nothing to do with Billy or Dom, but with Kast Media’s CEO Colin Thomson stealing money that was owed to multiple hosts and podcasts owned by the company, including this one. I would assume Billy and Dom do not own the rights to the podcast and its name, so they basically have no choice but to discontinue it. No official statement has been made by Billy or Dom, so this is all just theory but highly probable due to the publicity of Kast Media’s scandal. However, the new television series is legit, so that’s something to look forward to :)

You are correct. I met Dom briefly & asked him about this - he said they weren't allowed to talk about it, but more or less, this is what's happened. He did say "Eat the World" will hopefully be premiering in June 2024 or so 🤞

Here’s what I’ve put together as to why the podcast is no longer active… Friendship Onion was part of the Kast network. The network would get them sponsors, the sponsors would then pay Kast, then Kast would take their cut and then pay Billy and Dom. However Kast kept getting bigger and bigger celebrities and promising them more and more money. And so it got to a point where the network stopped paying previous talent so that they could pay for new talent to get in. This essentially made a bubble that eventually burst thanks to the likes of Theo Von and Coffeezilla exposing the scam. As it stands now, it seems like Billy and Dom lost a ton of money and so they stopped making the podcast. I really hope that they will either get the rights to the Friendship Onion again or start a new podcast because this is probably the coziest podcast out there

Honestly. This is one of the best podcast I've ever listened to. Ivenlisten to a ton. Usually comedians. But there is something so amazing about this podcast. So wholesome. But I miss it soooo much. I am truly hoping that billy and Dom eat the world on this podcast again. Have a league of legends update. And a housekeeping moment. I just truly miss it a lot.

Been on a LOTR marathon today. I watched the full trilogy these two boys together along with Elijah and Sean. Thinking how young they all were back then and what an absolute masterpiece these films are. The cast, the picture and the exceptional music soundtrack by Howard Shore. Unforgettable is the amazing voice and singing talents from Billy in ROTK

You absolute legends! I just got back from seeing the 20th anniversary return of the king in theatres. Its been 20 years since I saw it the first time and I was still blown away how good it was. So, so fun getting to rewatch and remember all the Eat the Worlds of this past year, especially some of the older ones I haven't watched for months 😊 Highlights for me are the Dunkaroo song, the banana mayo sandwich (which Billy has made me actually want to try, 😅), Jonny Clues' hot sauce, the Second Breakfast restaurant, and the great Debate as to whether or not Billy ate the seeds of the carolina reaper 😂🤣😂🤣 It cracks me up everytime they get into that argument haha! Sorry Dom, but I have to say: 54:18 LOOK HOW MUCH OF THAT PEPPER HAS BEEN EATEN OFF!!! Billy definitely took it down to the seeds 😉😂🤣 You guys' podcast always makes me laugh and gives me something happy and fun to think back on during the week until the next episode. I really appreciate you boys' performances in Lord of the Rings as Merry and Pippin and you as your real selves as well. One of Dom's latest replies on Instagram to a fan's question about what happened to the podcast was to "Google search the company we were working with." The Friendship Onion seemed to be under Kast Media, which from a casual google search seemed to have news about them owing backpay to a lot of their podcasts in 2022 that went unfulfilled. I would guess that's a big reason for them not continuing to make more episodes, but they still make convention appearances.
