Considering the disruption caused by the pandemic it's been an OK year for all things Essential RC. We would have liked to have done more but having put this compilation together I've realised that our enthusiasm for all things RC kept the channel going. Thanks to Jason, James, Carl and Al for making our chosen hobby fun.

Grass is CAN be more forgiving at times.

Sometimes the grass can soak up a hard landing whereas you would bounce on tarmac

I prefer takeoffs on pavement but landings on grass. Especially some of my larger warbirds. I NEED grass to land those

@@brianemery8945 Maybe you just NEED to learn to land propperly. It is allways better to land on a paved surface if you got wheels. And about warbirds... Most of these planes are hard to master. You have to be really good pilot to fly them. Fast taildraggers. Small rudders. Unstable on the ground at low speeds with engine idle. Very hard to land with crosswind. People love to use flaps for landings but do not realize how shaggy the plane is then. And to make disaster happen for certain, everybody loves to use thumb trasmitters that are everything but precise. And precision is what these fast beasts need.

@4:41 that IS NOT GROUND LOOPING! Ground looping is the rotation of a fixed-wing aircraft in the horizontal plane while on the ground not nosing over!

I'm amazed how easily that plane going through the ring tore itself apart. It didnt look like it was going very fast at all, but it literally ripped itself into pieces. Airframe not strong enough to handle the torque of the motor? I was expecting the wing to part company with the rest of the plane and the 2 bits to fall to the ground.

It's an ARF with a very light Ply build, they are made this way to be light and to be easy to put together at a factory, I had a plane with a very light Ply build that I landed a bit too fast, I landed the plane, it was on the ground, it rolled a bit, it was a tail dragger and its tail tilted up and struck the ground and honestly it wasn't that hard and the tail instantly snapped off clean, I couldn't understand how? When I was repairing it and putting the tail back after looking at the light Ply construction I instantly understood why, ARFs in the past were stronger with more wood sheeting covering the structure but I guess new methods of construction save on material costs and weight.

Absolutely destroyed my Eflite 70mm f16 yesterday hahaha. Flipped the wrong switch at a very bad time! I like to go to these vids bc its just part of the hobby at some point or another, and having a good attitude at the field when the crash happens and in the days that follow is so important. No sense in being a pill, it runs the fun for everyone else at the field. Better to laugh at yourself, make a few jokes about landing, pick up the parts, and save for a new one!

Agree. The more you fly, the more likely it is to happen. They all end up in a bin bag eventually if you are an adventurous flier. 😉

The second clip is from Weston Park. It hosts the Weston Park International Airshow every year mid-June. Probably the best RC show of the year and highly recommended.

No fuel pump as far as I am aware.

You think once the engines revving good,it kinda pulls a suction on the tank,maybe? I'm just trying to figure out how the keep running with the fuel flow Uphill!

Not sure on those, but on planes I’ve built you have a fuel line from the tank to the carb, then a fuel line from the exhaust back into the fuel tank. Then one vent line bent up out of the tank, that setup kept fuel running wile the engine was on

So like a portion of the exhaust pressure is used to pressurize the tank and the vent tube was for excessive pressure,like at idol? That's pretty cool,and makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

Problem still the same ... Great craftsmanship, but they are very poor pilots .. landing too fast and too steep .. Craftsmen build, then get a pilot to fly your creation .
