I introduced my son to Father Ted when he was home from primary school for two weeks with a chest infection. He loved it and it cheered him up no end. He is now 17 and just finished school. My brother and I have made many jokes about ‘a lovely horse,’ and when he bought a rural property, well, you can imagine. Hats off to my sister in law who has had to put up with many Lovely Horse jokes. I think small vs far away has to be my favourite line, and probably Speed Three and Song For Europe are my favourite episodes. I have not long ago shown my husband the ‘I hear you’re a racist now Father Ted,’ clip and he’s had a good laugh. Perhaps I will be able to convert him to being a Father Ted fan. I recently came across Derry Girls which I don’t thinks has ever been shown in Australia, and recommend it for any Australian Father Ted fans. It has the same out of left field humour.
