Same. The original character designs have way more charm. Shaggy's face at the end is drawn beautifully while Velma is divulging US military secrets to the press... And I think Velma's voice is hilarious, if you think of her as super sarcastic when she says "hmmmmm," like she has to be sarcastic to this job and go along with the plots a little, for the sake of the gang and audience. Think about it- she researches the cases prior to arriving for investigation, so she probably already has a good idea of what's behind the mystery that episode before they begin. This makes her voice acting way funnier to me.

Wow... Having never seen these particular episodes before, I can say that it's almost like I've stepped into the Twilight Zone, or got hit by the Mandela Effect, this voice is so baffling. This was after Scooby-Doo had long run its course and ABC/HB had long stopped giving a shit about it outside the money it made them. When Pat Stevens quit as the voice of Velma (probably on short notice), I’m sure they just found the first actress that could kinda sound like her, without caring if she could act or not. The results speak for themselves. Pat Stevens also sounded way too old and stiff (a far cry from Nicole Jaffe’s classic kooky voice), but at least she was a decent actress.

Marla was horrible. With better direction she could have made a reasonable Velma. She just needed to soften up her octave a bit because she sounded too deep and give more natural emotion to her dialect because she sounded too robotic and monotone. Also, the over emphasis on certain words was annoying! But she seemed to have gotten better towards the end of her run as Velma. At the 4:35 mark and onward, she sounded rather good. It wasn't as flat and dry; she was more witty and lighter sounding and didn't press on words as hard. THIS is the voice she should have had from the beginning.
