I still love this France. I always will. From an Englishman.

The French commentary for the very last try is an absolute joy

Commentator was Roger Couderc. You might notice his very distinctive southern accent. He is a legend in France. A bit like Bill McLaren for the British. His favorite expression was : "Allez, les petits !", which he says here at one point.

You will not see many tries of this ilk today. Game not allowed to flow the same, every possible infringement is blown for. Let the game run!!

Vive la France, indeed! A fantastic selection of tries from what was arguably Les Bleus' belle epoque, as it were - Nigel Starmer Smith must have been a very lucky boy calling half those tries in. Great to hear the voice of the imperious Bill McLaren calling those tries against Australia in the 1987 Rugby World Cup, it was just a shame that he only did one RWC for BBC TV.

At their best? They're mesmerising! C'est si bon. 🏴 🤝 🇫🇷 Ps My mother was from Britanny. Father's from Berlin. Me? I was born in Kensington and Chelsea. From 11 years old lived in the principality. Favourite player? Shane Williams. Breton people (mama) speak Welsh. It's their history. Mama loved 🏴
