The anime is based on a visual novel from 2002, which is the one seen in the video - the novel is a slow burn, but if you enjoyed the tone of the humour and horror in the anime then you'll surely enjoy it. A team of super talented people made a mod overhaul of all chapters with new artwork and voice acting (same japanese voices as from the show) called 07th expansion. There's also a new anime adaptation of the series on the way, and it's looking really promising.
