As someone who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, I can assure you, the only people that pronounce Nevada with the "ah" sounds are either outsiders, people who want to sound fancy, or super old-school mobster types that have been around since the Strip was founded about 70-80+ years ago.

Even though it was founded by a Frenchman, we pronounce it like the word pier (like a dock). The word has evolved, and you can pronounce it like the name, but you will look stupid
