@@2500curbstomper now that I'm older, maybe a little but man that dude is still a king in thrash. You don't really know of any thrash guitarists/bands now that don't love him or the bands he was in. For how old he is his riffs are still INSANE. I don't even listen to much thrash anymore but I've still got a TON of respect for Gary Holt.

@@judsonchristudas It's impressive that he can play them like that, watch Paul Gilbert's 3 note per string blues licks like in Colorado Bulldog, shit can get stretchy is all.

@Keith quesenberry Did you lactate soy milk while writing that?
@busterdouglas5933 жыл бұрын
@Keith quesenberryRegardless how you feel about Holt 3 not per string pentatonic licks are hard, Paul has giant hands and he still uses his pinky. Holt uses his third finger, it's just an impressive stretch is all obviously Gilbert is more technical idk why you're so triggered.

some of the tastiest leads in thrash with a tone that sounds like its about to burst into pure harmonics \m/ killer

His guitar tone on Force of habit is still one of my all time favorite metal guitar sounds!!!
@m.c.ruckus20323 ай бұрын
@@hbc431 yeah, sounds LIKE it's ABOUT to burst into SOME kind of harmonics, but never does. Most times he plays the lead/solo in...ANY song, when the lead is done it always feels like it was missing something, just leaves you hanging, like, wass that IT? Not many song leads he plays can you distinctively recognize what specific lead/song it is from.

when you watch clips of Gary Holt talking you get the impression he is one really awesome man and a really funny guy as well . I love Jeff Hanneman and his passing was very sad as he was not even 50 years old. But Gary Holt was the perfect for for Slayer .

Gary Holt's solos are just random string noodling. There is no familiar, recognizable lead that was written for any particular song. His leads have no direction, purpose or melody. They never start, fill or end with any particular fit for any song, like I said, just random string noodling. It's just, "aaaaand, GO!", Until he decides," ok, that's enough, that'll do for now" then joins back in with the other guitar to go back to the rhythm guitar parts. It's like, "was that even the right solo that goes in that song?".

Yep its random, it's just about as dumb as it gets in metal soloing. Melodically it sounds like he's got a few some scales and runs, and he's moving up and down the fretboard until it sounds about right, then he's remembering where to start.
