The problem with Kirk is his laziness to construct good melodic solos. One of the best solos of Metallica is the one from 'Nothing else matters', wtf, it's not even a Kirks solo. I'd put two ends of the line, in one side you have Slash with his singable melodic solos, you can whistle em all, on the other side you have Kerry King, fuch, i hate all his solos, not even one melodic memorable solo, all fidgidifidgidi garbage. Kirk is in the middle, some good ones and a lot of nonsense fingering up and down the fretboard. He used to work em out but those tomes are gone 😢😢😢

What people are forgetting is that Megadeth has always been a band with 2 lead guitarists. Dave has shown he can play melodic solos especially earlier on in his career when he had yet to really let go of his lead role. His solos are aggressive, messy and jagged BECAUSE his lead guitarist usually covers the melodic and memorable solos (i.w Holy wars, Lucretia, hanger 18, Sleepwalker, etc). Go listen to She wolf, kick the chair, my last words, or wake up dead. You can also see him do much more melodic and memorable solos as soon as his other lead guitarist is more of a shredding type like Glen drover or Chris Broderick. Dave still writes memorable solos (Post American World, The Emperor, The Threat is Real, etc), while I can't really remember any of Kirk's recent solos that are just pentatonic noodles + wah. No shade on Kirk, just fyi.

Crazy how this overweight and overrated dude survived a whole career playing the same horseshit, same notes every time... at least you would expect him to play in key, but not even that 😂.

DIMEBAG WAS THE GOAT his style was so natural just the outburst of his energy expressed with some hendrix like blues soul and yet so refined and thoughtful, could back-up any outburst of energy flawlessly with his "vocabulary" and technic and always playing from the heart

Dan è riuscito a creare un suo stile nei soli. Per me è stata una grossa perdita quando se ne andò dagli anthrax. L'assolo prima di stand or fall, rimane un capolavoro.

How is band even in the big 4? There are far more talented and killer sounding bands still playing from that era. This band is ass . This is noise metal

Every solo or song he touches comes out amazing. Thats why hes my favorite guitarist of all time! I always look up to him and inspire to be that good too
@jimmys51124 күн бұрын
Remember he’s the only guitarist in the band so when they play live there are no backing tracks of Rhythm guitar for his solos. That shows (1)how great Rex is as a bass player but (2) it shows how great his solos are that they don’t need cords behind them, they stand on their own as an important section of music added to the song like a breakdown in todays metal in which I believe Pantera also invented besides groove metal.

His style was quite recognizable - when you'd have heard most or all of his albums. The fact that he played rhythm, lead, and did the vocals live on stage was pretty epic. I'd say only Muhammad Suicmez came close.

RIP Jeff but I swear Kerry and Jeff do the exact same chromatic scale run in every single song, like literally the same going up 3 notes then going down and back up.
