The ogene is barely heard. The rest of the instruments are heard more and that makes the whole thing more of Achikolo than Ogene. You need to amplify the sound of the gong so it can be heard more. The time spent singing should match the time spent beating the gong. Ogene has rhymes and ryhtm. It has a language. Ogene can be used to invoke the spirits and make the worst dancer dance well. There are times you hit at the 'isi' ogene or at 'odu' ogene depending on what you are talking. One asks the question and the other person answers. One makes a comment and the other person replies. That's the interesting thing about ogene. That's why it takes two to beat it.
