I don't even WANT to imagine what it'd be like to think that you were just another normal bloke and then find out one day you never actually existed. That you're just an invention and a deep cover disguise waiting for the original personality to take over after you're of no more use. At least The Doctor had the decency to give John Smith a choice. I can't say the same for poor Professor Yana.

Martha is such an underrated companion! She protected the doctor in this episode (she lived for months a servant with migration backround in the 1920 or something!), she was really clever and she saved the whole world by telling them about the doctor in the episode with the master. Rose was the Bad Wolf and forced to go because the Doctor couldn't get to ger anymore, Donna became Droctor Donna and her memorie was erased but Martha CHOSE to go. Even though she was in love with the Doctor she never forgot where she came from, never forgot her family and that she was HUMAN. I love Donna and Rose as well (of course lol) but I think Martha needs more appriciation and love because she is great❤

He never raised his voice; that was the worst thing. The fury of the Time Lord. And then we discovered why - why this Doctor, who'd fought with gods and demons, why he'd run away from us and hidden. He was being kind. He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains forged in the heart of a dwarf star. He tripped my mother into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy, to be imprisoned there forever. He still visits my sister once a year, every year. I wonder if one day he might forgive her, but- there she is, do you see? He trapped her in a mirror; every mirror. If ever you look at your reflection and think you see something move behind you, just for a second, that's her. That's always her. As for me, I was suspended in time and The Doctor put me to work standing over the fields of England as their protector. We wanted to live forever, so The Doctor made sure that we did.

One of the strongest things of this amazing two part story is that John Smith never questioned or even wondered why he was able/ wanting to confide/interact with Martha during a time when race and class discrimination runs rampant. It's awesome that John Smith didn't adopt the attitudes toward races/classes back in those times too.💕💕💕💕💕💕👍👍👍👍
